Driver\'s seat lowered....

And I love it! What a freakin difference...I can see out the windshield!!! Shifting is easier and comfortable...an THERE's AN ARMREST ON THE DOOR! Who knew? I thought the top of the door was the rest!!! /images/graemlins/laughing.gif

Quite the pain in the ass to install, but well worth it... :thumb:

Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

Gerald,
Does the seat slide for adjustment or does it become fixed after the lowering kit is installed.
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

Tiepilot - The 1" lowering kit is adjustable, but the 2" lowering kit is fixed.
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

How long did you have your Viper before you installed it?

I had my first GTS for 3 years w/o one. When I got my current GTS, I installed it right away, and WOW did I wish I had known about it earlier!

Yes, pain in the ASS to install( patience is required, but I still built up a good sweat messing with it!). But can't imagine it w/o in now!

Lots more leg room too! Now I can wear a helmet and sit up staight!

Have you removed your Visor too?! That helped also.

Casey...I bought my RT in October of 2000...Wish I had done it long ago!!! Maybe I am just slow!!! /images/graemlins/laughing.gif

Visors...Last summer I punted the GenII MiniVan velour visors, and installed the narrow, leather GenI visors...definitely a good move too... :thumb:

Chuck...sent you a PM...does anyone else drive your RT??? If so, CUT IT OUT!!! Then no worries about needing to adjust the seat...
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

Gerald,

you just try to be like me!!! I also got my RT in October 2000 and i put on the seat lowering kit 3 weeks ago.

I have to concur with Gerald -i absolutely love it. I am not that tall (5'10") but i have discovered the armrest in the door (and the right arm now rests on the console). I sit in the "middle of the windscreen" and i feel more like i am "one" with the car. I totally recommend the seat lowering kit. I got the 1" kit.

Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

Par...Kick the front of the seat up a little...throw some shems under the front bolts...oh, and get longer front bolts...trust me...makes this even better...

Oh yeah...and when I grow up, I wanna be just like Par!!! /images/graemlins/laughing.gif

City...You got a PM...
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

I had to do it right away. At 6'2", I couldn't wear a helmet in the car.Very happy with the result.Sitting in the passenger seat is weird.
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

Get ahold of Snake Bitten, (Gerald). He is the man to talk to. :thumb:

Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

The kit is made by Northwind engineering. You can buy one of northwinds kits from partsrack amongst other places.

Talk to Gerald (Snakebitten on this board). He had some very good suggestions on how to install (using the shims).

I like my kit and it was easy to install (about 30 minutes).
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

Yeah there is nothing like turning out the light with my knee.
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

I'm on it!
Thanks!
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

So Gerald,
If I want only the 1" kit, is the Northwind $259- kit the way to go? Is there an alternative (less expensive) product? And if not, is JonB the best supplier?
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

I like the 1" kit personally. I am very happy with it, and i don't know anything even remotely close to it.

I used JonB, mostly for convenience -it gets shipped right away etc. I haven't needed any help or support from him, so i can only say that the supplying of the product went smoothly -not used any other services.
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

Does JonB discount the kit? (I'm not one to complain too much but, sheesh, the price seems steep for a couple of chair rails  )
Re: Driver\'s seat lowered....

City,

1. Where is your seat positioned right now? Is it all the way back (not the backrest, actual seat)...

2 Does your seat have to slide back and forth or are you the only person who drives your huffer???
