I never wanterd a Viper bad enough to even consider getting one until I saw SRT photos in the mags last year. I fell instantly in love and had to have one. (red,2003) No regrets.
It seems that most of you Viper old-timers(having nothing to do with age) are somewhat undrwhelmed by the SRT where as many of us new Viper folks are just getting on board because we fell for the SRT. I've watched the Viper develop since the early 90's but was never moved enough by the over-the-top styling of the genI and II's to actually get one. Along comes the SRT, smoother, more refined, still performs like a Viper, and I gotta have it. It's a subjective thing.
The SRT is still not for the masses. It's not mass produced. The masses would have no idea what to do with 500hp. The car is still makes very few compromises for the sake of mass appeal. It still rides hard, is not that easy to get in and out of, is somewhat loud, throws off a lot of heat, etc. It has given up nothing in performance. All in all, it has not sold out on the original Viper premise.
