I think the entier cooling system holds approximately 3 gallons. I drained my radiator, upper and lower hose and only pulled out about 2 gallons. Im guessing that there are about 1 gallon left in the car. You could do exactly what chuck recommended above if you dont want to pull the 2 drain plugs in the block.

The cooling system is designed to hold 3.22 gallons...

Don't be pathetic...remove the two plugs...takes like two seconds...They are on the bottom of the block...location is roughly mid-header...Neck down a 3/8" extension on a bench grinder to fit perfect...

I should specified on older cars. Like the 80 vette I have. I cannot get the plugs out even with an impact. I did the coolant on the Viper this summer and did the remove the plugs. They came out easily.
