I currently have ceramic cats; randomtech hiflo. im thinking about "upgrading" but i dont want this damn bucket any louder. am i SOL? will the metal cats offer up any additional HP? or are they just noise makers vs the caramic

I have the metal substrate ones. If you want, pm me and I'll give you my cell, you can hear the car over the phone. Of coarse that may not be too accurate. Stop by when the weather is nice and hear in person.
Why Smoke,

you wouldn't flaunt that polution in the face of the EPA would you? that doesn't sound like you.

No, I wouldnt. I love trees, tree-huggers, hippi's, liberals, and enviro-nazi's.

If you put those metal ones in your car and it is supercharged to hell and back, and you drive it like I do, they are gonna melt. Been there, done that.

V10 MOJO,

I had the Random Techs on my car, with just 5 lbs of boost they started to melt, really really bad smell. I think melting Cats are probably more toxic and polluting then no cats.
Also, I think my car is quieter with headers and no cats at cruise, and no drone. Under full throttle it is louder, but that is the way it is suppose to be, right. /images/graemlins/smiles

I just ordered Roe cats today to replace my stock cats; should I have asked what type, or am I screwed? My car has some little mods, but more are on the way as I want MORE SPEED!
melted?! i thought the metal substrate were for higher HP and therefore better. so, the ceramics i currently have are better then?

my O2 readings are showing that my cats may be possibly shot so thats why im asking.
I was told to use the metal substrate cats for moderate supercharging. I think once you get over 700hp any cat is trouble.

NO your cat's aren't shot unless you are throwing a code. The high-flow cat's are probably working as good as when you installed them; they don't emission test as well as the OEM cat's. This is from my own experience with my RT ceramic high-flow cat's.
Talked to Larry today at Macedo. He did state that for my roe s/c that I should either go catless or go with METAL hi flo's as the ceramics would melt. I'm sure it would be possible to melt metal ones, but I am only using a 5lb pulley with no other mods (minus borla exhaust). Having read this thread, I was specific with my questions.
