Anyone have a recommendation for a brake controller? I've been advised to get the Prodigy by Tekonsha. It works by inertia even in reverse. My Chebby Avalanche has horrible brakes and needs all the help it can get.

I'll be pulling a 1300 lb open alum trailer (18 ft).

Yes. Also the added advantage of an inertia-type controller is that it can determine the rate of deceleration and apply brakes accordingly. Other controllers that don't use accelerometers can only apply braking linearly.
