I don't even know what they are called, but most are blue with gold rims. What are the hp, tq numbers for these? Reason I'm asking is they always seem to want to race. Just last night had a blue one with gold wheels, fart can, and what must have been an aftermarket BOV try to race me. He did ok while I was smoking the tires. Once second gear caught I could see him disappearing in my rear view mirror and his buddy in the passanger seat was crackin up and pointing in his face. Not fifteen minutes later some idiot in a black one pulls up next to me, same fart can, BOV, etc. jumps on it and I leave him even worse. He of course does the standard ricer fly by as I'm searching for a new cd. It just seems that this is the car driven most by people who think they can beat you. I've pulled up next to a couple of Z06's and WS6 TA's and they won't even look over or even give it a go and once I was actually a little worried about one of the Z06's because I could tell he had exhaust and perhaps cam. Are the rest of you constantly pestered by these cars?

If it was an STI then IIRC the hp and tq are both 320, or was it 310?

Something around 300 for sure stock.

Lots of help I am. /images/graemlins/laughing.gif
Yep, pretty sure STI. Huge wing. Over 300 hp is pretty good. Shoot, I had a 94 Vett that was 300. Blue one was a coupe and black one a sedan.

My current daily driver is an 04 STI. Honestly it is a fun nimble and pretty quick daily driver. They are all wheel drive and with over 300 hp can post some decent numbers, 12.90 1/4 and 4.9 0-60. The fart can is probably the stock one.

STi's (2.5 liter 300 bhp) are pretty quick rice rockets, but not even in the league of a stock C5. I know this because I've owned a C5 and took a quick test drive in the new STi once. I also have a little WRX (2.0 liter 227bhp)wagon daily driver that is a lot of fun, especially in the rain, as the AWD and Kumhos really grip well. It will surprise Mustang GTs, most Hondas that have been souped up, etc., all the while running kids to activities and getting the groceries. Fun stuff!

that is one of the best little rice cars around for the buck. aside from the TT 911 I raced, that car is probably the most fun to run. the kids always have balls enough to try to keep up.

the blue/gold subaru is faster than most cars it seems uNless I keep finding the few worked on ones....lol

which is possible.

The STi is still so new, not too many people have mod'd them. In a few years, stock vipers(aka me) need to look out. I have a buddy that's got one and he's putting down 500 awhp(???) and close to the same number in tq. In the hands of the right person, a bpu STi will beat a stock viper.

How the hell do you dynow an awd car? Can't be to many awd dyno's around. Unless they have some formula for a comparison to the rear wheel hp. All that hp on an awd format must be tough on driveline parts.

Assuming by BPU you mean (Basic Performance Upgade), I have to disagree. For an STI to beat a Viper it will need some serious mods. They only run a little over 100 MPH in the 1/4 stock. I would say to get a STI to pull 120 MPH in the 1/4 your talking different turbos, everything strengthened (clutch, gearbox, engine internals, etc...), and a few other things..... Then of course the reliability goes to shit when your pushing mega-boost. Of course, the aftermarket webpages will claim numbers they can't get to sell parts, but that is expected. Remember, the speed in the 1/4 shows the true potential in a street race (usually roll ons). The STI are geared very aggressively to 90 - 100MPH, but then have very little power. When I test drove one, 100-120 took forever. But it was pretty quick to 80-90 MPH. Don't get me wrong, great car for the $$$, but no contest against a Viper (Unless HEAVILY modified).

One of my friends ( and a good customer ) is finalising work on his Legacy. Estimated horsepower this incarnation is approaching 700bhp using approx 45psi. Dont underestimate the power of the flat four !! On the other hand, a standard prodrive STI Impreza with 260 bhp will be a high 13 at about 98 mph

STI are awesome cars, the awd is incredible.

THe coupe you raced however, stock has 166hp 167tq and is na.
A lot of people do an engine swap with the coupe to a turboed engine, which is what you probably raced. In fact I am currently looking at buying a coupe with an engine swap from a limited 400 run version sold only in japan with 320hp stock. Those are insanely fast cars when done properly, they handle beautifully at the limit and in the rain and snow they outhandle and can beat jeeps and basically anything.

I would know i drive an impreza currently.

A simple search would yield some more accurate numbers:

2004 Subaru STi
300bhp/300tq
0-60 mph: 4.7s-4.9s (depending on source)
1/4 Mile: 13.2s-13.5s (depending on source)
Top speed: 155 mph (electronically limited)

Obviously in stock trim these cars aren't going to beat a Viper and at best will somewhat hang with a (stock) 1st gen 0-60. I do know that Godspeed in Novi, MI is working on a kit for about $8000 that'll put it right around 580-600 awhp and Prodrive is still in development on a "Power Pack" (ECU, intake, exhaust, etc) that will probably see somewhere around 350 awhp (maybe more).

no way...""Top speed: 155 mph (electronically limited)""....then the kids had less balls than I gave them credit for....
