Is it possible to do a small area and have it look OEM? Which paint did you use?

How bad is the wheel? Got a pic? Never hurts to try. if it screws up you can just have it re-cleared anyway.

If I sand down the offending area with 1500 grit, can I use some spray can clear to make it look good as new?

I agree with Craig. Viper wheels are not easy to clearcoat, even by the pros. They get runs very easily.

Just sand down the area with some 2000 grit. Then polish it with a good aluminum wheel polish (Maguire's or other). Finally, cover the whole wheel with Wheel Wax (www.wheelwax.com). It works great without worrying about the clearcoat.

This process was recommended by the best alloy wheel restorer in the Detroit area and it works!
