For those who created a bunch of AEs in the past couple of weeks, please take the time to go into your My Alley (for the AE) and in the Personal Preferences section fill in your" "regular" id.

Its pretty annoying when I have to do it for you - in the future it would probably just be easier for me to deleted unregistered AE accounts, but I'm giving you advance warning now.

You know who you are.... I know who you are.... now go register your AEs....

Thank You.

I just went to read up on this subject.

From- "Forum Motions and Announcements"

UPDATED-SITE OPERATING GUIDELINES

8.) Alter egos/aliases are allowed ONLY if they are registered with the moderators. The alter egos will have no voting power.

9.) Aliases should be privately registered with the mods. If your alias is honestly harmless and intended just for fun, then why should you care if it's registered with the mods? The mods are NOT allowed to divulge your alias to the public unless you begin making mischief with it. Then you get outted and we'll let the membership decide what to do with you.

10.) Using an unregistered alias should be grounds for banning for cause. An unregistered alias simply spells intent to commit mischief.

Also seems to be two rule #8's listed. Just an FYI

AE's (Alter Egos) are userids that someone creates to "be someone else". They arent against the rules, but we do require you to "register" them by filling in your actual identity. Only the Admin has access to the actual identity, but Mods can ask for it to ensure that we dont have a "troll" problem.

A couple weeks ago we had several members register some AEs and not fill in their actual ids. I'm just reminding people to register them. Thanks.

By the way, AEs are treated differently in some areas on the site and the field allows me to ensure that someone doesnt have an unfair advatage when it comes to contests or other such features.

Kind of tangential to the topic, but here's something I haven't seen implemented in any web forums. Back in the dial-up BBS days, we had a local BBS which encouraged the use of AE's. It was a lot of fun, mainly because it was all local and everyone knew each other well. What was cool was how it worked -- any time you were posting a message, you could select which AE you wanted to post under. In other words, the BBS software itself was aware of AEs and supported up to seven or eight per user, something along those lines.

Might be cool to consider...

That might be do'able. There is an update to this software coming out that has alot of new features (and improvements, like enhanced polls) - I'll probably wait for that release so I can work on upgrading it with all our customized features (I've lost track of them all).
