I have two 315.35.17 Hoosiers that I want to run on the track on stock wheels. I have heard of people running this size, but unsure of the wheel width.
I stand corrected. I thought 305 was the widest you could go. 315 will definitely be bulging quite a lot though so the contact patch may not be perfect.
I want to run 315s in front too when I get the Stoptech brakes, but I'm gonna do it on a set of Purner rims.
The section width of the 315-17 and the 305-18 are basically identical. I don't know for certain, but it could very well be that the two tires share the same mold and casing, with the exception of the bead/sidewall and lettering.
I found out that you can do it. I am running them on the purner wheels, but in Super Stock I have to run the stock width. Chances are, I will will get new "halfs" and run a 11 or 12 inch wheel and run SM2.
Thanks!
