220$ oil change!?!? Is this out of whack?

1822 Views 32 Replies 19 Participants Last post by  2BADD 4U
I always do my own changes, but to save the mess I figure I would get it done the same time as the 999 recall. And they quoted me 220$! He said "that includes the filter AND the additive". Phew...thank god the additive is included...

I wanted to know if any oif you saw that on the Mobil 1 10w-30 full syn that it says "for higher mileage cars". Is this a new marketing speel that I shouldn't be worried about? I believe it is 10 quarts...?

Any feedback/comments would be appreciated.

Additive??? That's got to be considered rape!
The "additive" must be the KY for when they bend you over and give it to you in the a$$.

$220 for an oil change. :lolcry:
220 is way too much. Geez...the car is on the lift for the recall anyway. I would say you are being raped.

The Mobil one 10w30 is fine. Screw the additive.
Holy CRAP! That is nuts! They are screwing you bigtime :fist:
I had my local dealer do the change for $17 I provided the oil, they provided the filter and labor. If I just bring the car in and they provide everything, then it is about $70. /images/graemlins/freak3.gif

My Dodge dealer charges $5 per quart of Mobil 1 plus 1/2 hour labor. Maybe you got a bigger oil pan than I got and they put the whole 55 gallon drum in your oil pan...
S.O.B. I hate being screwed over!!!!!!!!!!! Does this guy think I am not going to check this shit out??? Someone once said "I thank God everyday for giving me the mechanical knowledge to work on my Viper myself". I think it was Chuck B. Sums it up nicely don't you think...

From what I hear there are great dealerships stateside. Bunch of flippin' crooks this side of the border. This really pisses me off! :pissed:
Way too much...you can buy the oil yourself....do not buy through the dealer/m..even the dealer advised me of that. Additive? Yeah, the additive charge they mean? Way too much. Even when I was paying for my oil change, oil, lubing, etc..it was less than $100. Print out this entire thread and throw it at him. /images/graemlins/flipa.gif

Michael...Come on man...For revenge

Order some major hipo Mopar Performance parts from them...over the phone...(Not for the Viper...Hemi parts) When they come in, tell them you don't know what the hell there are talking about, that you didn't order shit...

Do this during lunch, when the Parts Manager is off getting hammered, and his "partsbitchintraining" is minding the store...
Is that U.S. or Canada dollars? Actually, just did a conversion and it turns out $220 Canadian would be $157 US, still too high. Kill them.
Canadian pesos', if I add the tax of 15.56% it would be 254$ for the oil change!

Killing them might prevent me from driving my Viper, but ordering parts for my (imaginary) 68 GTX with the 426 in it doesn't!! Gotta love Gerald's strategy. :thumb:
Damn that sucks.

Just buy the oil from Wal-mart when it's on special. Do you guys have em in PQ? Then take it to them and have them do it.
Hey Craig, ya they got Wal-Mart here. That is where I am going to buy the oil. 28 bucks for a 4 quart, but the problem is the freakin' oil filter. It is the M1-204 (I think) but nobody sells them up here. I guess I will go through JonB for this one. Oh by the way, looks like I might be down your way at the end of July, 1st week of August with the Viper. Got some buddies down there. PM with your # if you want to hook up for a night out, I could use some guidance to the honey spots in TO. /images/graemlins/laughing.gif Still haven't got a hold of Ryan, he has been as busy as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest lately with his move and car problems. Would be cool to hook up with both of you.

Let me know. And if you have ever heard of MOBIL 1 filters up here, I could use the help. No way I'm getting raped at the dealer.

Wait a minute guys - he's talking in Canadian money. So $220 is like $8.43. I think it's a good price!

As for Chuck's utterance, I think it was something like "I thank god for the mechanical ability to work on my Viper, and I curse him for the propensity to slam my Viper into tire walls". or something like that.
$220 Canadian is $8.43 USD?
Well it is more like a 440$ oil change before tax. Not only does Canada come with 30 foot snowbanks and smoking in Church, but we are also taxed 53%, and pay 16% tax of goods and services, and pay 3,75$ a gallon of gas . BUT, we have a free shitty healthcare system. It is a 2 day wait in the emergency rooms right now to even get looked at...no shit. Anybody want to move here...I didn't think so. And now we have Toronto to thank for SARS, nice work Craig, plummit the country a little lower /images/graemlins/laughing.gif
