2005 Will be the first year of the new Viper coupe. What would you like/want and to change from the stand point of the SRT-10 and previous Vipers? Im thinkin..

Bring back Sapphire Blue/White Stripes
Maybe a "targa" roof if they could do it very clean and hidden
MUCH more power! Mercedes passed the 500hp mark, then 600, 650 whats next, the 2005 Coupe should at least have 650 (but more is definetally better!)if a Mercedes can have 650 and 730tq stock
TRACTION CONTROL- would help the fact that a 650hp stock Viper will be hard to drive for a sports car first-timer, hell, even an experienced driver.
If the wheels are gonna be shiny, make them CHROME , cleaning polished wheels sucks! (Wider wheels would be better too)

Things it would be "cool" to have but arent necessary (options):
Power seats are definetally cool if more than one person drives the viper
Cruise Control-I drove to/from VOI's and its gets very tiring (im definetally shipping next year)
Locking gas cap is also a good idea, not just for jealous people, but for the piece of mind (Ive had friends cars screwed up this way, its EXPENSIVE)
Fantasy option: a "ride control" option like the Corvette's have, that way Vipers can have thier bumpy sport ride or a cruise luxury ride (hey it could be an option)

Thats all I can think of now, lets hear what you gotta add....

targa roof: get an SRT, targa=flex and leaks
more power: I'd rather have lighter weight, and make the car controlable.
traction control: /images/graemlins/greddy.gif

power seats: /images/graemlins/greddy.gif
cruise control : /images/graemlins/greddy.gif
Locking gascap: always good
ride control: /images/graemlins/supergay.gif


Sounds like you need a plush mercedes.

In Europe you can buy the Audi RS6, 420HP and 380lbft of torque....
The DC needs to put a supercharger or something on the viper and make it take the power lead again. When a station wagon like the RS6 has the same or comparable performance figures and you can pick up a Benz that is competetive life is scary for a muscle car lover. Time to make a true muscle car with twice the performance of a audi or a benz. For nothing else than that if nothing is done the viper will quickly become an "also-ran" car....

if it has a targa roof, is it still a coupe? i am damn glad my GTS doesnt have one, if i wanted one i would have gotten an RT10. as far as colors go, im not too picky b/c they will probably use the basic colors that the srt has now. i think the 500hp is plenty for a stock viper. i dont think traction control is good either b/c is bastardizes the car. i agree, it is hard as hell to launch the car, but the viper was built as a track car, not a drag car, and when do you launch it there? locking gas cap for sure! i think i left my plastic cap at the gas station, or could have been stolen. either way,i want that shit protected. i think if you drive your car long distances, cruise control wouldnt be a bad option, but i wouldnt pay for it if i didnt have to. jonB can get you cruise control for your rt10 texasvipers. i am not familar with the ride control, but i dont want to influence the new viper with too many vette ideas. there is a reason i bought the viper instead of the vette....
all these opinions are purely hypothetical, but i would want the new coupe to be raw just like my gts is now!

A targa top would make it look like the RT/10 :nod:

I doubt DC can make it that much lighter unless they use a lot of aluminum then the cost goes way up. Power seats and stuff will make it heavier, For traction control it would have to be an automatic /images/graemlins/greddy.gif how about active handling that wont add to much weight and it will handel a lot better.

The blue and white is my favorite color combo I wish the RT/10 had it.

FIRST AND FOREMOST!!! ITS GOT TO LOOK LIKE THE COMPETITION COUPE!! Its gotta have ALL the body work that the CC has. It needs more HP, forged pistons. HP should be at least 550. A clamshell hood would be nice if its possible. Bring back Connelly interiors!! Is this a rumor? Is it coming for sure???!??!?!??!!?!

There were 56 blue/white R/T10's made in '97. Very hard to come by.

As for a targa GTS, I think it would look significatly different than the R/T10. The same would go for a SRT/Coupe. The Vette targa top is alot cooler to me than the convertable, IMHO.

Im saying same basic roof design, still hatchback, but just with a detachable roof, (just an example) the Supra's have a very clean targa top, still hatch, and is very hard to tell they are targa.

You cant be serious when you say the Viper was built as a track car, sure it was but the "Viper" lost all its racing "look" and styling when the SRT-10 CONVERTIBLE came out, besides that, the ratio of Vipers driven on the "track" compared to the ones just driven and drag raced frequently is about 1%-99%, I think Dodge CAN have an option that isnt just for "track" racing, there is life outdside the track, how many times have you been to the track??

I was saying traction control would be good for the fact with higher hp levels 500++.
Also the person who said manual transmission's cant have t/c, uhhh ever been in a standard Vette/Porsche e.t.c?

Thanks for the update:

I've had the 500 Benz myself and have several friends who currently have the 600. I wouldn't imagine a problem w/ either, in a stock Gen II GTS at that. Does the guy who owns that S600 have a lot of work done to it or something? I know they can be scary fast with some work done because I've seen Motor Trends Shoot-Out and the Benz was fierce! But stock???

Personally I don't think there will ever be a "GTS" srt-10. There is no need for one...if you want to race...buy a Comp Coup. (at least that may be DC's thinking)
