Hi i just got a 1996 rt/10 and its just a little low on oil. Several people have told me that its perfectly normal and that all the older vipers do use alittle oil. Please tell me this is true. Even my viper tech told me that they use alittle oil.

Im going to attach a pic of the car. Its my first viper and its even better than i thought it would be.

My '96 RT/10 doesn't use any oil either, but it spends a fair amount of time in the garage under a cover. How many miles are on your car and how many miles between checks of the oil?

The car has 23000 miles on it. I just bought it last weekend. I drove it about 600 miles home. That may be why it used alittle oil. It may not have used any i iddn`t look close enough at the oil level before i left. This is my first viper and im paranoid as hell im watching, looking and hearing ever little thing. But everything is great exept the oil thing i just wanted to make sure that normal. Thats for the help. And by the way i love the viper nothing else even comes close in my book!

It may have been low when you picked it up. Have it changed or add some Mobil 1 and then check it with every gas stop until your next scheduled oil change and see if the level changes. 23K really isn't that many miles and '96 wasn't a problem year for oil consumption. You should be OK.

Hey Stevn,
If the car was on any kind of slope/hill (even a small one) it may appear that your "using oil". Make sure to always check it on a flat surface and don't worry, be happy! :thumb: :thumb: :burn:

Nice looking car I love the blue wheels. MY only beef is that whoever added the sidepipes could have at least used a circular bit on a drill instead of using tin snips to make the hole. I'd be more concerned about the sills rusting away if they aren't treated correctly.

They're aluminum, they won't rust. :thumb: But I agree regarding the cutout. I thought maybe it was just an artifact of the picture.
Easy fix, just trim it out(make it more circular) and put something on the edges to clean up the look. I still want to hear the car, steve you coming down to Montgomery for the races? You know you'll have to make a run or two :thumb: :burn:

The sill holes are perfectly round. The pipes have billet tips on them and the pipes turn down just a slight bit so it makes it look as if the hole isn`t the same all the way around but it is. I`ll try and post a pic with a different angle so you can see it.
