1993 rt 10 muffler length and diameter

aprox. 2 feet long and 6 inches in dia.

On my Rt/10 it is 4" of straight pipe. about 4' in lenght. Nothing else justthe 4"pipe. ( no mufflers, no cats ) why 4"? 5" would not fit out of the side sills !
