I dont think we'll see a 50 hp bump until the coupe is released.
Yep, I think a 2006 model year release of a coupe with a 50 hp bump would also result in the same bump in SRT-10s, like 97 - I don't think they will do a split year like 96. Plus I doubt they would bump the hp after only 2 years. I would really prefer a 100 hp bump to keep the Viper well ahead of the Vette.

Like I said in 2001--it needs to be forced induction from the factory to get the wow factor. I know it would disappoint the road racers, but they need something dramatic to reinvigorate the brand.
I really don't understand this issue with forced induction for road racers - people with Roe s/c's seem to do fine (don't have heat issues, etc.), and the big kicker to me is the Ford GT come stock with one, and it is certainly meant to be road racing car, right???? So what's the issue?

Yes, D C NEEDS to have a coupe and a substantial increase in HP via a SC or TT. The Viper engine with help from the top tuners has proven itself to be a reliable daily driver in those forms and D C certainly has the know how to get it done as other manufactures have and in doing so keep the Viper above ANY other stock factory car. Or at least offer such a package as an option.

I dont think we'll ever see a forced induction production viper. If GM is squeezing 415 NA hp out of a 5.7 liter theres no reason to think that DC cant squeeze 550-600 hp out of an 8 liter V10. Just the thought of a supercharged v10 from the factory is ludicrous, but then again so is a 850 hp quad turbo supercar for $200k with a chrysler badge.

And lets not forget that the viper has always been underated when it comes to power. If they can tune 10 more rwhp out of the SRT motor they could claim 550 hp at the crank easily.

Like the Crossfire, everybody knows the ME412 is basically a Mercedes with Chrysler written on it.

I think the fact that DC has NO other real sports cars is a sign the Viper might be peaking. DC doesn't want to step on any AMG-badged toes, and the Viper is already a fluke in the current carefully-maintained midrange Dodge lineup.

It has to have a HP upgrade to atleast 600HP if not 650HP
this may or maynot be able to be done naturally.
it is a big motor i dont see why not.

regardless of weather the coup comes out or not.

I agree with Craig less about colors and interiors more about HP!
Just my 2 cent..

I think that if they did forced induction, and had, say, a 750 HP car, they would get all of the marketing that the first generation Viper provided. Back then, it was 400 versus 220 or so--the 400 was spellbinding. Adding 50 per half generation makes for a great car, but no stunning flagship that everyone lusts over.

Yeah. They were also going to build the Charger in 2004.
And the Power Wagon in 2003.
