Being from MA I've been searching this area for almost 5 years.... The only one that is close is Chuck Tator. Just curious why you don't want to use him? I have spoken to him a couple of times (seems like a nice and knowledgeable guy) but I have never had him do anything for me as of yet.

Long story - things ended up not working out between us, which I won't get into.

Ghost, I recommend JTM Performance on Long Island. I know it's not close to us but they're credible and work on race cars. They're located in the same building as ARH. A lot of locals have been going there over the last few years and all are very happy. The guys are big supporters of our region. If I didn't do my own wrenching I would certainly use them. You should talk to Gjon at PowerPlant in Poughkeepsie, NY.

It's so shitty around these parts that I'm shipping my engine to Greg Good in Texas next month so he can do his thing with it. There was one promising shop in Waterbury,CT but for engine work you get a bag of dicks. So I won't send you there.

Of course, Viper Specialty in upstate NY.

For roll-cage, exhaust fabrication there's a great place in my town. They work with race shops for circle track racing. They use a well known engine/circle-track race car builder in Thomaston, CT. I can't remember the name, LOL. But Mark will get you the information. I'll PM you the info.

There are a LOT of things out there that are not good with quotes on pricing out there, but never posted in addition to engine issues. They have VERY similar features. Goes a little something like this:

Customer: How much for this and that to be done?
Answer:$5,000 total
Okay, do it, I'll pick it up next month
Answer: Okay <customer drops car off>
Here is my $5,000 cash <as customer picks car up>
Answer: The bill is $11,722 as there was a lot more work hours wise, it was the worst I ever saw, we had tons of time into this.....
WTF why didn't you call me, you quoted me $5,000 for everything
Answer: Oh we had so much time in this, everything was loose, so many issues, terrible

There are a fucking PILE of people with these issues but they never post up here. How do I know? I've not only talked to a TON of them, I've also experienced it first hand. Before that I bought from him a few times and all was perfect. Another time I drove up for some stuff and left same day and also was happy. My above post is actually KIND, it was actually worse for me.

Ok thanks. Why does there seem to be so many assholes out there that work on Vipers??? There was a guy in TX that did porting and powder coating on intakes. So being a good guy and trying to help a newer vendor out from another forum, I sent him my intake. First I though it was weird that he wanted payment in full upfront... whatever, I'll help the guy out... SEVEN MONTHS later I still did not have my intake back. I had to constantly chase this guy. He made every excuse known to man. I told him that when it arrives to me quality better not have been compromised by him now trying to rush it out the door, He swore it would be perfect... Should've known better. It was suppose to be bolt-on ready. When I received it, it was FULL of metal shavings, the powder coating had multiple imperfections in it, and the inside welds had massive slag bubbles and so many pieces of wire hanging all over from the mig, it looked like a porcupine exploded inside my intake! Guy promised to reimburse me, never did. Then I had to take the intake to another shop to have it all corrected. Friggin intake cost me $1,700 in the end because of some hack vendor. GRRRR! I don't understand how there are so many of these guys getting away with this shit.

There are so many good vendors out there and yes, some are late with shit, but the amount of idiots in this field is endless. Even down my way, I have my 502 blocks from my boat at one place, had to pull them and even have a thread on the Alley. have it at another shop, was told 2 weeks and not going int week 6 and still not done. The good thing is that he found a ton of shit wrong from shop #1 as I expected him to so glad I pulled the engines. HOW AND WAY PEOPLE ARE LATE AND FUCKED UP IN THIS FIELD IS BEYOND ME! I never ever do this shit in my business and I have a low margin barcode scanner and computer repair business but this is about integrity.

Look up David Pintaric or Frank Barba in PA. Both have road raced Vipers A LOT. Search the various Viper forums for emails.

Ghost Stalker,

I would look into Viper Specialty in buffalo NY Dan Lesser is a good guy and has helped me via email a lot. Also Todd at A&C but he is in CA. Def not worth cheaping out on these builds. If you cant do the work yourself send the car the distance to a good shop and have it done right. Freight there and back can be $3000, but in the end that's pennies when you don't have to deal with future problems or getting screwed with a crazy bill out of left field. I even see that guy in TX holding onto peoples cars for over a year... Do it right the first time! Lots of good guys on this forum that will help you out! Good luck.
Martin-
