A little ethics question for you guys

How long is a reasonable amount of time to wait to get $6,000.00 refunded to you after you cancel a purchase and the Vendor agrees to pay you back????

Regards,

Charlie

Jesus! I wonder how much in total they owe people, I wonder if their move was by choice or eviction.

So which vendor is this RSI again... you may as well sue and then get a sheriff to seize assets.

If you get a judgement against them in Texas and they don't pay you back you can do the above.
Guy did it against Homedepot a few years back, basically took several riding lawn mowers something like 15K worth on a 5K judgement.
They get so many days to pay the original judgment to reclaim their seized assets, otherwise its yours.
I believe its actually up to the awardee to judge equivalent restitution...

Needless to say HD paid back pretty quick once this occurred.

Two weeks then I'd start with phone calls. One month polite letters with irate phone calls. Two months lawyer and lawsuit time. Three months posts like this one warning others of the unscrupulous nature of the business you are dealing with. I'd be giving them lots of noise because the wheel that squeaks gets oiled.

Then around 4 months or so, start making videos with Final Cut Pro Video Editing Software!

Well for the record I didn't say RSI, I was just asking in general. Rather it be RSI, Dallas Performance, AMS or UGR. Something I have learned is after 90 days, the banks and credit card companies can't help you. That part really sucks.

You really screwed yourself, although I'd like to meet the thief that can actually make someone think they were getting their money back after such a long time.

Why on this earth are you protecting a company that clearly stole from you? As a fellow Viper owner/enthusiasts I think it's pretty selfish to hide the thief so that others may get burned later. I know that most guys have owned these cars for awhile and they know who's good/bad but new owners like myself do not :/.

If the offending firm is indeed in Texas, the OP is in Houston. Probably not more than a 5 hour drive.

I would have shown up at their doorstep months ago.

I'd show up and demand it. If they don't have the cash, take parts.

I think 90 days is just the limit to when its quick and painless to get the chargeback.

But I have evidence that it can be done after much larger time-frames. In another community I am a part of, a vendor received over 100 deposits for a new turbo system that he was "finishing up". Several paid in full. A year and a half or so later of hearing the same update on repeat, everyone realized that its not happening. Not everyone has their money back yet, but SEVERAL of the guys did get their money back after having the bank involved.

FYI - American Express offers longer times to charge back a disputed charge. I typically make my large ticket purchases with my Amex if it is accepted. Otherwise, I try to use Paypal and fund via my Amex. That way you have a longer time limit. I disputed a charge that was 7 months old and Amex handled it no problem.
