I was torn between a TA Viper and a used Gallardo

Hey guys!

I wanted to upgrade from my 01 RT, and I've been torn for the last little while between a used Gallardo and a new Viper TA. The dream of Lamborghini ownership faded as soon as I seriously started to look at them. They sound unreal and have great styling. After a while though, one common theme was present in all the 04 05 cars I looked at (my budget really limited me to 04 05 cars) - shrinking interiors with leather wrapped bolsters and door panels that looked like lulu lemon pants stretched over the ass of a girl that should never have bought them to begin with. I couldn't see myself spending a hundred grand or so on a car that felt old inside and still had a tape player in it. I couldn't be that guy who just bought the car because it was a Lamborghini - it had to be a car I was head over heals for, and sadly with the Gallardo I wasn't. I found an Orange 2014 TA on the other side of the country which the original owner never picked up for whatever reason, and it had 3 miles on the odometer. I'd be the original owner with a nice 2014 discount. 2 weeks till I take possession, and I can't wait!! Oh and no offence to 2.0 owners, but my car doesn't have the ridiculous spoiler and comes in the right shade of Orange.

I'm not a 2.0 owner; but, I'd prefer you say, your car does not have a wingdesigned to improve downforce for racing the car. You could add: "I never intend on tracking my TA, and just want to impress the Gallardo owners that I encounter at Cars and Coffee."


Congratulations on the car.

(And, yes, I prefer the non-wing car from an aesthetic viewpoint. However, DAMMIT, the TA, esp 2.0, was built as a track car. )

No offence taken... I absolutely love my 15 Y'Orange TA 2.0 with it's very functional and gorgeous wing... to each their own. This being said, I also love the 14 TA orange color, and I'm very happy for you!

True but you have a TT Gallardo pushing north of 1000hp which pretty much ends the discussion....

OP.... the difference between a 2001 RT and the new Gen V TA can't even be measured its so far off the scale in every possible metric.

Congrats on the TA. Very nice choice. I like the looks of the TA better than any other viper model.

Twin turbo gallardos are hard to beat. I don't think I could drive a stock one. Just too slow unless it's an lp570.

I'm in the market for a TA or srt, Im missing driving around a stock car and going to the track. I just need to find the right deal.

My car does have a wing designed to improve downforce, however the 2.0 does it much better, no question - I however prefer the cleaner design of the 1.0.

I understand. By the way, since you are now a Gen V Viper spokesman at every gas station and parking lot: What is on the stock 2014 TA is a spoiler, not a wing; and what is on the 2.0 is a wing (or airfoil ) not a spoiler. Two different devices with different functions. Not that it matters to anyone but a car geek. (For all I know, I guess that wing could have some spoiler effects also.)

Sorry, my geekdom got loose. I envy you; but, am too cheap to put my money where my brain wants to be.

I struggled with the same thing. I was on this forum, FCHAT, and the Lamborghini forum trying to learn the most I could about all three cars for the last year. I settled on my 2013 GTS in Adrenaline Red for the same reasons you mentioned, and the fact that my Viper will eat the Gallardo and 360/430 alive...

I had a 04 G and for the money a new Viper beats it every time. I know a 1000hp G is a insane car but for me I was having a hard time with the interior and overall look of the car getting dated. Thus I bailed and must say never looked back. In the future I may pick up another Lambo car but a Huracan not a G.
