That is a real challenge. I think that is one of the issues trying to be figured out now. Who would the BOD name in the interim until a new election could be held? Who would want to run for National Office? I can tell you that Maurice Liang, Jim Johnson, and a couple of more on the Board are all honest people. Many Regional Presidents also. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. The VCA gave too much power to too few people and now we are paying the price.
The solution is right in front of everyone.
The power of the national offers should be extremely *extremely* limited. Like an interface to SRT/Chryslter simply so that Chrysler isn't dealing with 31 separate regional folks and really not much more. What actually needs handled at a national level anyway? VOI planning (which should be bid out to an event management company), the magazine (which should be bid out to an outside agency) and handling club business like printing badges (which should be bid out to a management organization too). The website should be handled by the website members - moderators perhaps elected or perhaps a committe appointed by either the regional presidents or the national guys to run the website with strict term limits and after your term is up you are thanked for your service and move on to other roles. There is no point having people who never use the website having a role in running it... so it should be very member focused and largely designed to suit those who DO use it, not the theoretical future owners who might come along one day. Oh, an unchangeable rule that no regional or national officers should be eligible to have any financial dealings with any aspect of the club. So if the regional prez of the ABC club happens to own a publishing company, well tough cookies, you can't be the guy running the magazine, for example.
Everything else should be handled by the regions. With 31 separate regions, while a few bad apples may get into the job in a region or two, they will be overwhelmed by 29 or 30 others and won't be able to do anything bad. Plus, the members have a direct interface with the regionals so they will know who are good and who are assholes. What does some guy in Wisconsin know about some "national officer" from Tennessee who he's never met anyway? 95% of everything that affects the Viper owner is local anyway.
I suppose you're right if all you want to do is stare at a computer screen all day. Me, I like the events my Region throws. 10 day trips through Montana and Canada. 6 day trips to all the National Parks in Utah. 6 day trips to New Mexico. Week long adventure driving to VOI. etc.
Maybe it's your personality. I've met lots of the people here and done lots of events with them. Then again, maybe it's my personality
Unfortunately she's not on the Board any longer. Too bad, she would have been good for the club as Prez.
The position would be for the person who can do the best, not 'from this group of anointed". But from the perspective of ability, Janni knows the playing field very well. And her background is more than proof.

I was a member of the Kansas City VCA for a few years, and knew Chris from those meetings and a few other instances. I found out about the possible scandal just today, so joined up here.
It was at shock to see him involved in this mess, if it is all true. I thought him to be a very nice person, with great charisma. Mary seemed to be a good person. I had a lot of empathy for him when he lost a couple jobs. Someone with his talent shouldn't be in this situation. Again, if this turns out to have repercussions, what a waste of potential. Just my personal opinion.
Also, wife had a deposit on a vert., but withdrew it today in a "wait and see" on this issue. I know buying a viper (have owned 3) has just a little connection to the VCA, but we will see where this leads before any future purchase. She also complained to Chrysler about this developing mess.

Lots of ideas and NONE of them are great for Chrysler. Well except for a chrysler employee running the VCA.
Anyone else have any ideas that Chrysler would like? That would restore Chrysler's trust? Maybe if only banned members were allowed to run in the election would give Chrysler a reason to trust?
Perhaps somone that Ralph appoints to be president. Dumping all the new bylaws is a great start, but that doesn give Chrysler any indication that the new BoD won't start sending letters trying to get him fired.
After the VCA went so far working against and lying to Chrysler ... they have no reason to embrace the embarassment of this club unless they can be reassured that it will be a new club and not be another embarassment to the corp like this Version of VCA has become.

IF the VCA continues you have a good point Phil. Change Chris's title to Club Destroyer? There isn't any non superfamous Viper race car drivers been added yet? No new Viper engineers or employees - other than Ralph G.?

Do you honestly think Chrysler wants to run a car club?? No. They just don't want a group of folks taking advantage of THEIR high end clients and profiting from them and their parts. Chrysler is in the car manufacturing business, not the car club business. What they came up with in Lee's letter of lies of having a Chrysler/SRT employee on the BOD I believe IS a good idea and lets the manufacture have direct access and transparency to the club without having the responsibility of running and controlling it.

Didn't Lee say that was already done?
Chrysler and MOPAR did pay for some of the VOIs. You should have seen Rav's reaction when I sent him the VOI 11 story before publishing it. Because I missunderstood and wrote that JonB had sponsored the Olympic Rink dinner he absolutely freaked out. Wrote my publisher domesticdriver and called me a liar and said that the enture article was full of lies and the VCA would sue. I corrected the dinner sponsorship to read "Mopar sponsored" and the story was published.
You'll even notice that I didn't say anything bad about betting banned, Trevor's Hood, Chris, etc. I just wrote a good story. It was also a requested story.
Create a committee of individuals who have the ability and the background knowledge for the creation and vetting process of a president, VP, etc.
Let the Treasurer be a two or three person job so you don’t have one person holding the bag or have this books checked every 6 months.
Use the existing system suck as the Elk, Moose or IOOF as a model on how it should develop.
Bottom line, this is not a business where someone is making a living but a group to have fun. Keep that the motto, (it is only a car club that is for fun)
