I guess that I don't see that about Dan from what you (SD) have said. I would have expected the Treasurer should have been at a meeting with Chrysler that was talking about club financial shenanigans. We don't know whether the raffle is unlicensed yet or if it needed to be, and the raffle appears to have been run and organized by Coast-to-Coast as far as I can tell. At least one VCA board member says the VCA board was not involved. And the other damning evidence I have read about Dan is that he supposedly fudged on reporting his lap times in a non-race. I have friends who fish who are kind of like that.

What I would say is that everyone above local level needs to be re-elected, and that may be what that people really want. That is what I would vote for.

I would say that you still have to hold Dan accountable. He was/is the Treasurer and had a responsibility for disclosing VCA/VPA finances. Never did a good job on that as far as I can tell. If I remember correctly I think even the current Carroll Bylaws require him to do that.

Just a little reminder to you: VOI stands for Viper Owners Invitational. From the very beginning, (Detroit) it was never just about VCA - it was about the car and the passion it brings to the owner.

True enough but that was back when Chysler was putting it on. The last two were put on by the VCA because of the Chrysler bankruptcy.

Can't say for sure but I believe it was because Chrysler ran out of dough.

I will defer to those that are "in the know." Like I said, they all probably should be removed because it is too difficult to sort out who is what. The problem I see with re-establishing the VCA is , who the hell would want to run for those offices and how would one tell who is a good guy or bad guy other than what mostly anonymous posts on this forum claim?

That is a real challenge. I think that is one of the issues trying to be figured out now. Who would the BOD name in the interim until a new election could be held? Who would want to run for National Office? I can tell you that Maurice Liang, Jim Johnson, and a couple of more on the Board are all honest people. Many Regional Presidents also. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. The VCA gave too much power to too few people and now we are paying the price.

I went to the first 4 VOI's. Since then, I participated in the club mainly through the forums and Track and Viper Days, with my passions being expressed by gallons of fuel burned and stacks of tires with "one or two heat cycles left in them." Frankly, with the folks at the helm of VCA the last several years, the further I could distance myself from them the better.

I got to know Chris and Mary personally on a trip to KS once, and they extended me great courtesy. However, I cannot abide the way they (and others) have run the club and its affairs since then.

Just an observation, as this thread started from(leaked) letters.

Then the bashing (well deserved) and facts were made from many well KNOWN respected members.Enlightened many across the viper arena.

I admit I did bashing as many did also. Eventually if you stifle the good people and we see daylight (finally) to replace the inept crew that headed the VCA. We speak with a vengance.<<< ya think?

As the 40 K views can bear witness to that.

That being said I am intrigued to see new member(region prez) asking what we would like to see to be done to change things and make it a club for all. That in it's self it a good sign. Many have offered opinions.

Hell maybe a few viper forums with what ever venue each have is good for the masses.

But if there is one thing that needs to be consistant.........OPEN COMMUNICATION.

We can work things out with our differences IF every one knows what is going on.Not the censorship that happened on the VCA.You see how well that worked.

Understand the ALLEY is a bit more on edge, well done......Lots of traffic and banter.A place to speak your mind.

The Viper Garage is still new( good site with great write ups),good people a bit reserved boobs wise!!! <<<<NSW And still in it's infancy. It will grow and get more boobs.I feel it!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( no pun intended) Great site on so many levels.

The (new) VCA perhaps can be a place that is supported by SRT and Chrysler .Regions planning events, states being interactive via the site, just like now. It's all good and a great way to communicate to many members that live across the continent( and abroad). The current forums are a nice sweep of the many venues this car club has to offer.

But it needs to be OPEN and TRANSPARENT so we all know what is going on.Lack of communication is the worst case scenario.Open elections.open records, open every thing.Volunteers doing what is needed when needed. That is what this club needs and when the masses see it is fixed.

You will flourish.

As I will again be part of it as I know many others will also. The good that is presented WILL MAKE THE NEW VCA A STEP ABOVE and not the animosity MONSTER that was present for years at the former club, that is what killed it.Along with alot of other things....(sigh) Change is process.

3 venues for what ever excitement you feel the need for.WIN WIN for every one.

After all the ALLEY and the Garage spawned off the VCA sites failures.Let's not have any more failures and perhaps we can all help each other out in what ever venue you feel like .

Sounds simplistic I know, but really it is.

MY 02

Timbo

Ok, I still don't know what a windbreaker is. And Young Dog? I'm probably old enough to be your father. As to the Marshalls or some of the others they might be nice people generally but I too can't stand the way they ran the club. As for Marv, I edited this to not say what I really think of him. Probably inappropriate.
