Somebody with a lottery ticket needs to start a thread demanding answers on this time sensitive subject. Even if only in the members only section.

Let's hope that the raffle can continue as it is a source of funding for the club - and hopefully- with changes going forward - the club will need funding / support. (Again - all of this assumes changes, openness, transparency, communication , etc with a "new" club.)

I wouldn't want the baby thrown out with the bathwater.

It appears that Nebraska only requires the org's name and ID number (likely the EIN) on the tickets as well as sequential tickets and uniform size / shape / texture. Hopefully that was how the tickets were printed.
^^^^ is reassuring. I hope it all works out and the reps in charge do so honestly and without without issue. We shall see.

Nice. Let us know what the answer is. They shouldn't delete the thread under their new 'openness policy'.

I cant blame Woodhouse one bit for separating themselves. This raffle has the potential to do some long term damage if it turns into a goat rodeo.

Watch, raffle will be invalidated, they will refund the money, write the car off as a loss and the Marshall's will have a new corporate car!

Brilliant!

Right?

Proud to have seen what scumbags they were and I bailed on the VCA 11 yrs ago. Since then it's been a constant source of amused puzzlement for me that people kept feeding these assholes.

In some sense a lot of this is on those who have been feeding them. How was it not as plain as day that this organization was NOT being run in a spirit of volunteerism purely for the good of the members?

Where is my non insignificant dues going? What do I see for it? Oh lovely ... the good ol' boys clique is going to Le Mans again. How nice for them. ... and all I've got is this Viper Magazine. Whoopee.

And if that wasn't enough they treated their website membership with haughty authoritarian disdain. How could people not recognize these guys for the self-serving little Napoleons that they've been for so damn long? No accountability, no transparency and no spirit of volunteerism that would have put the membership first.

This is funny and sad. This is not in any way justice or payback. It's just pathetic. A car club. A fucking car club. Lol.

I found a site that stated that "charitable gaming" including raffles is no allowed for non profits at all in Kansas.

And we know this event is not licensed in Nebraska.

So the BIG question is... who is the governing authority for this raffle/where is it licensed?

Assurances that all will be OK really don't begin to broach the subject - the direct question of where the actual raffle is being held and under which authority's oversight is the big one.

And really should be easy to answer... and is probably required to be open and disclosed by law.

Baloney! 'Clerical Error' my Asp.....!

JT, you were BOD long enuf to know that MCVO operated (laundered) the club raffle from Day 1, for a $5000, then a $2500 fee. State of MI audited a few, and recently asked MCVO to add some financial controls to prevent skimming $25 of non-group tickets sold. MCVO posed the changes to the Reich. The reich refused. So MCVO refused. The club CHOSE to operate unlicensed!
Another GREAT managemnt decision by the reigning president.

Years of experience would have prevented clerical errors...but not omissions of license info! It was evasive of MI requirements.

No 'clerical error' was at play here......it was evasive. State Of KS will want to know next about the $270,000+ taken in for non-charitable reasons.

ANY state might want to know from a WINNER for sure, but also LOSERS- what amount of revenue was sold, unlicensed, untaxed, to its citizens. Some years the club runs several raffles!

Analogy: Your State drivers license and license plates give you reciprocity to drive in 50 States. Some States treat raffles the same way. MI licensed all the raffles til now......affording 49 other States some satisfaction about MI watching the store.

Now, its simply the Marshal Plan.....

If true there's no license, I think someone should get the Raffle Viper out of Nebraska... Like NOW!

Janni, money and perks are what brought them in, and a lack of money will drive them out. The Vpa can sell off parts, and finally pay some money back. I'll rejoin, and many others will when it's clean. Volunteer directors will meet by Skype, instead of airplanes and hotels. A color magazine is unnecessary in on line times. It will become a club, not a business. The Marshalls are gone the second the money stops.

P.S. Free Jon B!!

Dean knows.

Went south when VPA was formed?? LOL!! Seriously that's like saying the govt of Mozambique went South back in 2011 when the burrowing hippo fly plague ate the whatever harvest. Before that though it was all good.
