Here's another good one. I had lunch with CM at one of the VOI's, I don't recall which one but I will never forget the encounter. When the waitress brought us our salad the lettuce wilted in CM's presence, I swear he switched a dirty spoon for my clean one when I was at the dessert bar and snuck back to retrieve the rather generous tip I left on the table. We shook hands as we parted and it wasn't until I got on the plane that I noticed my watch was gone. At the time I had no idea these were precursors of much more big things to come.

Jim won't be sued.

Why? Because it opens up the VCA Management to discovery.

It is just posturing. Anytime I've seen legal action in friends sued, you never get threatened with a law suit, you are simply served. The "I'm going to sue you!" Is just jibber jabber.

Looks like Bob is getting a well deserved rest, and Bill P. has been brought in from the bullpen.

The by-laws change was the biggest mistake of all, IMHO. Zone Directors, etc. I've met so many of the people involved (including Maurice) and can't say I've had a bad experience with anyone - so I dont think of any of this as being particularly personal for me. But I do think that there was a fundamental shift that took the club away from its members and made it impossible for someone to voice an opposing opinion or criticism.

When kungfool for banned, well, that was a turning point for me. A good friend was banned over his use of WORDS. And in the rebellion over that, well, more people got banned and that was when this site was born out of frustration. I'm kind of glossing the details, but thats the gist of it.

It's unfortunate that events have led to this, but these issues have been festering for a long time and turned even very good people away. Rather than being inclusive, the club became incestuous and infected by a need to protect the few insiders. And not everyone who participated was potentially worth being strung up by their necks, but in reflection maybe some will reconsider their roles and see what was corrupted.

A reset is a good idea and can ultimately return the club to what it should be about - not running a parts business or insisting that business be handled in closed meetings, but just about enjoyment and passion around a car that brings people together.

Is it time to play the Bob card over there yet?

"I can explain why Bob is pro Marshall.
Back when the VOI was held in Utah and the G5 prototype was revealed to all that attended Bob was unable to attend. He began asking National officers and people who were friends with Ralph if he could sign a non disclosure agreement and be allowed to see the pics/rendering/drawings. Chris Marshall made this happen for him and he's been a nuthugger ever since."

Friday morning between 10 and 11 am the raffle is supposed to take place in Nebraska at Woodhouse. according to the wording on the ticket.

A little birdy tells me Nebraska enforcement may be visiting them about a license and there may be a delay in the drawing.

It would be a shame if the raffle ticket money had to be all refunded. Illegal gambling across state lines is not a minor thing.

We have to let the BOD know about their problems here first.

If that happens it would catastrophic for VCA reputation meaning everyone would start looking into why and come across this for the non forum users.

Technically the VCA/VPA thing is the other way around (non-profit VCA owns for-profit VPA to my knowledge), but I still understand the issue. In the end you have a for-profit company feeding money into a non-profit company, which effectively makes the non-profit for-profit if the money gets exchanged freely.

You have two buckets of money, one VCA, the other VPA. If an event gets held, which bucket is being drawing from? People might think that their membership dues are being wasted and spent on frivolous things, but in reality the money might be coming from the profits of VPA. I'll agree the main issue is that there needs to be documentation of these two "buckets". Realistically, since they are both owned by the same company, it's all just one bucket in the long run, but it would be nice to see where the money came in from to know if the amount going out is reasonable and coming from the right sources. For a really simply example if membership dues brought in $1000 and VPA brought in $1000 from sales but someone bigwig gets flown to an event that costs $1500, members might have a right to be angry. However, if VPA brought in $2000 then the membership dues haven't necessarily been touched because VPA is using its own profits to fund whatever they choose.

Of Course NOT.....the BOD approved every one of the compensation packages, and lee's management recruiting co apparently wrote the contracts.

1) $60K/yr for C2CM (Mary) to be exec director. Extended til 9/30/13
2) $75,000/yr cap on VCA Mag Ad revenues to publisher (CM)
3) $50,000/VOI + a profit share (who knows what commissions the hotels paid?!)
4) $42K/2011 FOC sez as VPA hourly labor to CM. {likely more hours in 2012?}
5) $??? Editor Steven Marshall? {May be paid by C2CM?}
6) Raffle income....does C2CM share any for this extra work?
7) $??? Travel expenses, perks and frequent flyer miles used how?

They did the work the BOD approved, no-bid-basis.
