I'll say it's definitely refreshing to see so many new people now questioning what's really going on, so the "just a few tin foil hat people" excuse can't be used anymore.

Agreed. The images you posted are way too small to read though. I imagine that they may be larger on your computer but were downsized when you uploaded them to the VA.

Agreed a 100%!! Where is everyone? It's awfully quiet here. Where are you Lance pres of the largest chapter in the club? What say you and the other leaders of the largest chapters? Did you guys know about this and just turn a blind eye? Did you get extra benefits to look the other way? We need answers! Now is not the time to hide your heads in the sand! Step up and help the members take back the club!

And a reply

This is laughable. Anyone with any 'knowledge' of what has taken place at any of the in person meetings involving the regional presidents knows how much Ken, Jim Johnson, and some of the others that dared to question the party line have been brow beaten. Ken has never hidden from anyone and has been banging this drum for years. Two years ago in Phoenix several regional presidents, Ken and I among them at the time, voiced concerns about the apparent conflict of interest with VPA being set up as a potential competitor for our existing vendors and it's seed money from the VCA (I'm being generous in saying the lack of an adequate explanation was laughable. Saving tooling is one thing. Selling parts, wheels and so forth in direct competition with other vendors is another). We further inquired about the decision to ban Jon B, and I personally had several enlightening discussions regarding several 'troublemakers' we have in the Houston area that by my experience are reasonable but principled and outspoken guys that call a spade a spade, all of whom have been banned, suspended, or walked away because of shenanigans from 'VCA Admin'. The presidents' meeting prior to the National Officer's Election at VOI 12 where inadequate documentation was provided to truly eliminate the apparent conflict of interest, turned into another venue to bash those that were questioning the ongoing operations in front of the BoD and regional presidents. The outcome of events since VOI last fall show that nothing will change unless there is a MASSIVE commitment to full disclosure and several Officers and BoD members are removed or resign. The relationship with the manufacturer will only be repaired when those responsible for damaging it are gone. The problem is simple, a lot of people forgot they are ultimately accountable to the general membership for the general welfare of the club and its relationship with the manufacturer. Even though they have effectively removed the general member from being able to hold them accountable for some time, now it appears the buck is about to stop.

I fully expect a new round of 'VCA Admin' emails to go out to long time members in my region asking what the deal is with 'Houston's loose cannon president' and for me to be moderated in some way. That's fine, I was a lame duck the moment I had to sign the newly worded 'loyalty at all costs' form as a regional officer this year. Newsflash guys, I'm a freekin' volunteer! I refuse to tow the party line and was tired of the whispered and indirect threats thrown toward members and officers that ask legitimate questions before I was even talked into becoming an officer. Several National Officers need to resign now!

Post removed in 3.....2.....1.....

MIKE Smokin' 2 Pres for the absolute win! There is an example of a guy that gets it and has always got it. It's been a very frustrating scenario in Houston with a few regular contributors slapped with a lifetime ban because we realized we were being lied to and chose to push for answers as Mike stated out of principle and not out of any sort of misguided malice.

I can't begin to imagine how much easier the Houston club could operate independently as simply the Viper Club of Houston, without any VCA affiliation whatsoever. You show up to a dyno event, you pay for it. You host a BBQ you bring something. You go to the track you pay your own way.

I was the Maryland state event coordinator for the corvette forum for several years and we never collected a dime from anyone for anything, yet managed to organize and attend the same exact events we do with the VCA.

Yeah, the filesizes are tiny. Some sites will shrink attachments. If they were screen grabs, I can't imagine them being that small. Either way, I can help.

This thread is amazing, especially considering the names posting in it! Hog Whisperer... Biggest... Janni!!...PJ!... JonB... Dean Word... Serious?!?!?... Makara...and others. Wow!

It's been a long time

My brother forwarded me a link to the Jalopnik article, so I did a google search and came across this thread... just finished reading through it all.

Honestly, things have been rotten in the VCA for more than 10 years. When the "troubles" started that led to the creation of this site, I remember going back and forth with "the management" of the time. They had just recently introduced the DAL scheme and made it that the members did not vote directly for the national leaders. That was the beginning of all this bullshit.

When all the shit was going down, I remember a couple of conversations with "the management" of the time where it was pretty clearly stated that there are two ways things can go... you can get with the program and you will be rewarded with privileged access to Dodge, to travel, to special deals and to other bennies, or you can try to put up a fight, in which case you will get blackballed.

I pointed out the progression that was taking place back then... secretary becomes treasurer... treasurer becomes VP, VP becomes President. It had been that way for years. I was told my observations were "very hurtful" by the people holding those positions who "freely gave of their time to make this club great".

The more things change, eh?

It's amazing that it's the same names 10 years later involved in all this bullshit. It's not just the current management that needs to go, but the bylaws need a serious rewrite. This nepotism and crony politicking is not specific to this group - it's been going on for YEARS.

Oh, and hi everyone!

After reading what SRT Mike just posted, I though I would pull out this little gem that was posted during the last VCA National Officer elections. (well they called them elections anyway)

Oh wait. Why don't I use a saying that Kansas likes to throw around.

"Facts are a powerful thing"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Former VCA National President Endorsements....
on: September 26, 2012, 10:38:24 AM

As past National Presidents of the Viper Club of America, we fully understand and appreciate the need for some
continuity in national offices. Current experience running the club is a key factor in national elections as there
are numerous variables that cannot simply be learned overnight or even over a few months. It is like passing
the Olympic track & field baton to the swim team and hoping they can win their first race: they may be great
athletes but it requires an entirely different level of experience to do correctly. There has never been a National
President that didn't serve in some previous national officer capacity, excluding the first National President
where no prior experience was even possible.

In these times when the club has been forced by necessity to be entirely self-sufficient, it is critically important
that it be managed by not only those that have clearly demonstrated a dedication to the club, but are successful
business people in their own right. Make no mistake, the position of a national officer is far more demanding
that most will ever realize. Not only in terms of time away from your "real" job, but in the need to constantly
protect and grow the club. Simply ask yourself what each candidate has done personally to help promote and
grow the club at the national level.

After carefully reviewing the candidates declared thus far for national office, we feel that Lee Stubberfield can
continue the amazing trajectory the club has been achieving over these past few years. The treasury is as
strong as it has ever been, VIPER magazine is winning awards and new fans with every issue, and the club has
proven to be self-sufficient even when faced with monumental events like a VOI. The fact that the club is
helping members with reduced prices on factory parts and now possesses the factory tools that built these
legendary cars is a dream come true for anybody with an ounce of Viper blood.

We are very proud of how the club continues to mature and hope that this trend continues for many years to
come.

Signed,

Steven J. Ferguson, Past National VCA President
Tony Estes, Past National VCA President
Joe Houss, Past National VCA President
Steve Wedel, Past National VCA President
Robert Carroll, Past National VCA President
Christopher Marshall, Past National VCA President
Marv Spatz, Current National VCA President

PS from Steve Ferguson: The PRIMARY and MAIN role here is what best provides for the MEMBERS of the
VCA. Based on what I have been presented as a go forward strategy, and based on the level of membership
experience which never wavered in the transition from the management teams of JR Thompson to Coast to
Coast, it seems evident that what best serves our members best to it maintain that continued standard going
forward. Based on what has been shared and as a former National President, as a Founder of the VCA, and as
a member of the VCA Financial Oversight Committee, I find the current direction of the club to be in order and
on task. More importantly, it seems it is not only keeping up with all the standards members have grown
accustomed to, but in some areas are now exceeding them. So with that being said and IF the true GOAL is to
provide the best experience for the MEMBERS of the Viper Club of America, I stand and endorse Lee
Stubberfield to be the leader for the next two years. Not only that but the thought of the new processes in play,
and adding the historical management of Maurice to this equation is rather invigorating and for the first time
would be a great blend of old school and new school, thus giving the VCA the best opportunity to reach new
heights.
