Ok so what are the mods? The one thing I have always respected about Viper is that it has always been a bench mark platform. If you can roll on a Viper your car is fast, and as per the videos posted here its nice to see that mentality still holds true.

So what are the mods on the V and what rwhp numbers is it making?

Comments say the V is making 630 rwhp. So I'm not surprised that the car making about 80 rwhp more and gets a slight advantage because the Viper hit the brakes and lost inertia, pulled ahead. That second race looked a LOT closer, though.

Gotcha, thanks buddy. You guys should make a sweet video of a stock CTSV running a gen V.

When a 4 door sedan can pull or stay with a '13 GTS, it shows you how far behind the 8 ball this new viper is power wise compared to the competition.

I mean it is modded, its not like its stock, its putting down 630rwhp, would make a 458/G/PTT/GTR cry as welll. Modded ones took down Gen IVs all the time, as well as most any $$$ exotic lol. Viper could have 700rwhp stock and the V can still be easily modded beyond that.

Reality is that most any car can be modded to outrun most any other car. Funny how some members here ignore that.

But it's all good, this is just car stuff we're talking about, nothing earth shattering...

Yes, BUT most of these new cars can be modded easily with bolt-ons, specially the forced induction ones from factory. New Viper just can't compete, plain and simple.

Back in 96 what bolt-on car could run with a GTS?
My point, the competition has caught up BIG TIME (thechnology, moddability, etc) , while the Viper has not been able to maintain the GAP it once had.

I certainly do not disagree that the V is currently a bit hobbled by there not being a readily available and affordable A/M PCM. But I sternly believe that within 12 mos. (and yeah, I know, that ain't NOW) there will be one available. When it is and forced induction systems can be used as well as the more mundane mods like exhaust, pulleys, throttle bodies, etc... the Viper will again dominate the production car market, here and everywhere. Wishful thinking? Maybe. But I don't think so.

In the meantime us V'ers will just have to suffer with our rides and be happy with what we have for now.

As for the Viper's late 90's domination of production cars, I ran a few modded Z06's, WS6's, and Z28's that were definitely no slouches at the strip.

My CTS-V runs mid-11s. Quicker than most of the Vipers ever built. Don't be naive to think a factory supercharged sedan isn't capable. All I have is a crank pulley, an airbox, and a tune. Nothing else. Car has 40,000 miles on it with that combo, too.

But, my 13 Viper is still faster.

Yep....Same goes for a GT500. I can't bash the new Viper anymore since some people got their panties in a wad. But until the Viper gets the codes unleashed to SCT etc or forced induction its dead within 2 years. Just look at ebay I believe I counted 25 for sale now new.

I'm not naive at all... I think it's cool as heck that a sedan CAN do that and I know they can. Wife had a 4-door Pontiac GTP that we had a little work done on and it was plenty impressive.

I hope you aren't talking about me getting my panties in a wad, Johnny, I was just having fun and exorcising some VA freedom of expression. I love ALL hotrods and have had many. Heck, we even took the wife's GT-500 KR on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour last year, it was a hoot and that thing is not without gonads either...

It's all good with me, bash away!
