Bitch won't stop coughing!

New starter put in 2 months ago , car would start on one shot. Last couple weeks it's back to coughing, sometime takes 2 pushes to turnover. They say battery fine, starter fine and have no clue. Recurring issue, for almost a year temp resolve with new starter then back to coughs...and nobody knows Nuttin'!!!!
Any clue?

What do you mean coughing?

Rough start? Slow starter? Low cranking amps? Lack of fuel?

Why would you think battery?

Sounds more like a fuel pump or dirty injectors.

I was gonna suggest extra insulation in the walls of your two wide trailer....

Just Park that thing in London Terrace with the keys in ... I'll give you a ride back in my trusty, non CEL flashing, reverse finding, first crank starting, iPod charging '96.

Give me that thing for a week and it will be just fine.

1 day to diagnose, correct, and retest to be sure problem is taken care of.

6 days to drive and make sure problem does not reappear.

Combination Rough start and slow start. Rarely turns over on the first try. The low battery indicator goes red sometimes, but the there are no battery issues. I will talk to them about checking the fuel pump and dirty injectors. It's amature night at this dealer...

Ok, now it sounds more like a weak battery. It might be a good battery, just not enough cranking amps. Or a loose ground possibly.

Also check the distributer output and see if it isn't starting to go out. They usually just stop working all at once though.

All indicative of a weak battery... or similar symptoms thereof. Alternator?.. Connections?.. cut in harness.?.. You need to measure volts at battery and volts at starter, cranking volts at both points. Then go from there.
