Has anyone had problems with the 2008 viper TR6060 transmission, my reverse went out grinds wont go into gear and now it wont go into 5th gear under full power grinds. Car has 11 thousand miles on it still under warranty been at dealer still hasn't been fixed trying to get new trans dealer giving me run around for 2 weeks. not happy with tremec and why did they put revers to the right and up by 5th gear instead of right and down by 6th , 5th to 6th is staight down not over and up from 4th to 5th with reverse always a possability in a race WTF who designed that? i can shift car perfect but 4th to 5 th in tremec is like threading a needle not like a turbo porsche that takes no concentrtation what were they thinking?
i dont beat my car but i do drive it like it was designed to be driven i had tremec in a supercharged mustang lasted about same miles are they all good for only 10 thousand miles?
at top gun run ran 178 mph in mile car is stock see video
Just got it back from dealer. trans now has reverse, but under power it still won't go into 5th.
taking it back for a 3rd time, hoping they will just put a new trans in.
First time I saw your post viperpat. 178mph is dam fast for a stock car. You have me beat. At the florida mile I recently ran 175mph and I thought I was doing well.
As far as the tranny I have had zero issues and over 10,000 miles on my 09. My last Viper was an 05 with over 36,000 miles and again I had zero issues with either tranny. You always find a bad part or something with any car you buy these days. For someone else like me I had a bad front caliper when my 09 was new. Defective part that was replaced. Except for minor issues the Viper is nearly bulletproof.
The Forum was as mellow as can be with a noob pat. Not to long ago they would have roasted you but since they have passed out the rosy color glasses along with shipments of the California Wacky Weed I can't even recognize the forum any longer.
Darius you beast

I promise you that you are not the only one who drives their viper hard. There are many people that drive them hard and havent had any problems. When you miss shifts I dont think the viper trans is very forgiving. I remember when I had a 97 gts and missed a shift into 3rd, that was all she wrote.
However, I also have a turbo car and I can tell you that the trans is definitely a problem with turbo cars. So, if you drive a turbo hard all the time you are going to go through trans all the time. I have put 3k miles on my turbo car and have been through a trans already.

Hope the new trans is up to the test because I would like to turn up the power,
if the trans can handle it. Was thinking about going with twin turbos but not sure after trans problem.
Also, good run in the mile but run that sucker all the way to the limiter in 4th. It appeared that you shifted around 6000 in 4th. Dont bounce it off the limiter but run it right to it and you should be able to pick up another 2-3mph. Shifting the viper in 4th right at the limiter is key to good mile runs. 5th gear is too tall so you have to start 5th gear with higher rpm. I wonder how the mopar pcm would be in mile applications? The rev limiter is 6500rpm. If I was running the mile I would try both.
I always shift with the shift light, keeps it consistent every run was 178 and that's with a passenger, but I would love to see
video of of another stock viper in the mile, any one have one? I never missed a gear in car until I got car back from Arigo dodge service they did 12 thousand mile service. I picked up car drove car home and revers no longer worked and 5 th gear no longer worked before I dropped car off for service never had a trans problem ever and now dodge has told me now they are not putting a new trans
in car, they said they are going to try and rebuild it again. Not happy about being a test dummy for dodges trans mechanic he is not a viper tech and has never rebuilt a tremec other than the first try on mine. WTF any one no phone number for zone rep they won't give me number.
I just found out from tremec that if you use standard trans gear oil in tremec you will will have the Kind of
problems I have been having, they said they have seen it before. Tremec trans take ATF
automatic trans fluid. I think this is what must of happened they used gear oil not trans fluid.

I was under the impression that dodge never rebuilds the transmissions. If there is a problem with them the techs are told to order a new one. I was told this by a viper tech and trust me, I have been through many transmissions and they have always been replaced with new units and no rebuilds. Best of luck to you.
