Modded GEN3 Vs Stock 04-06 Gallardo?

Hey Guys,

I have been debating a purchase of a Gallardo for quite some time now and Im not sure at all if this would be the right step to take. Since I was a kid I always wanted to own a Lambo. I guess maybe most of us car guys did at some point. I was a big Corvette fan for a long time and had some pretty fast cars in the past few years. I got the GEN3 this year and I think its my favorite car thus far, not because of the speed but because I love driving it and love the feel behind the wheel. I do drive it hard at times and love the TQ levels and that it has a awesome NA setup. I also like the fact that the GEN3 respond to boost so well. My plan is to get a blower set up on the car over the winter time, maybe even a cam just to squeeze out a bit more power. The other option is to get a Gallardo a car I always wanted to own but Im not able to afford both cars at this time. The Gs are anywhere in the 90K-110K range depending of course on miles and year. I would want to lean towards the 06 since the 04-05 from what I heard are not the best years for this car.

Im probably not asking in the right forum but Its worth a shot to see what poeple think and how many would give up their Vipers for a G and why?

Any feedback would be great.

I think it depends on what I wanted. If I want a beautiful, fun, relatively fast poser car I would get the G, but a stock G would feel SLOW compared to a blown Viper.

Now a TT G.... THAT'S a different story.

Yea TT would be nice but the TAX FOR LAMBO TT kit is insane

.....I would get the G.....but keep in mind stock cars are no fun and just wheels and exhaust will set you back big $$

I can never leave anything stock so.... a G is out. too much $ per hp gained.

Take your lambo money skip the blower and get twin turbos on you car!

You will enjoy the car just fine even if stock, but if your short term goals require more power/boost than you may get bored after a while. There are no other options for G's to gain any realistic power, besides going TT. Stay with the Viper for now, and spend your money on more budget friendly options, to make it a beast.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my SC GEN III but I have a lot of work done to the car-big $$ mods. Between a stock Lardo and a SC GEN III hands down a GEN III-at least with my mods-not even remotely close.

I will test drive a Lambo this weekend, I drove my buddies Lambo before when I had my SL55 AMG with all bolt on mods and the G seemed slower than my SL. This was probably 5 years ago or so so I will give it another try. If even for a second I don't like the car I will skip right away, and than put up a thread on MODDED GEN3 VS BOLT ON GEN5 lol. I love the way the GEN5 looks and the interior is just amazing. So we will see what happens. For sure I'm not wasting time over the winter and if I keep my GEN3 I will be doing something to add more power. We will see where things go and how everything is looking.

Speaking of which, dont you always have about 3-4 for sale on any given week?

:D

Turbo does sound great. I will do some research as far as the turbo stuff goes. I don't want a crazy crazy build. I want to stay within 700rwhp for now if I keep the car. Dont really want to mess with the motor.

Just keep in mind that is where it starts not ends:D Most people want more. I am happy with around 1k rwhp on the street...

Ha you are right ;) I am a little low now but do have some that are just about done. I also have a complete UGR Turbo set up with fuel and Pectel for a gen 3:arcade:

I would love the UGR Turbo kit for my car, but would need to know for 100% that I want to keep the GEN3.

One drive of a turbo car and you would know.

ive had the pleasure to drive several gallardos. Perhaps pleasure is an overstatment. I was really underwhelmed by them. ALthought that might be because my daily driver is a 600WHP sl55. So perhaps im a bit spoiled. In my opinion gallardos are the porsche boxster of lambos exception being a TT gallardo.

For the money i would get a F430 if your wanting something in the stock exotic class. Ive driven a few of those and they were WAY more enjoyable than a gallardo.

What is a realistic value of my GEN3 you guys think? I have 31,500 miles or so I know mods dont count so pointless to list but I have a coilover kit, Borla Exhaust, Some carbon fiber work.

Dealer is trying to offer me $37,000 but I dont see myself selling the car at that price at all. Tax difference would pick up the car to about $40,000 on a private sale.

TWN TRBO September 4th, 2015 12:49 PM

ohh yea my car is a 2006
