[PICS] New M&M Big Primary Headers going on [PICS]
Well I have been working with the guys at M&M for the last month or so on a protoype set of their new big 1 7/8 inch primary Tri Y headers and their new 3 1/2 in catback with removable cat pipes.
I know they have done one or two other sets and have been making adjustments on the design and jig as feedback has been provided. All I can say is they look at fit fantastic! I ran M&M's on my Gen III and talk to both Matt and Mitch quite a bit and they have always been wonderful to work with. Thanks Mitch for the texts on Sundays when I finally had a few moments to start the install.
I will update this thread as I finish up the install, but so far so great. Headers went in no problem and the install is very similar to the gen III write up I did here a while back. The catback looks absolutely rediculous and I can't wait to get it on and fired up.
I have the new headers hung and bolted up, working on the collectors and catback this week in the evenings after work. I'll update this thread with pictures of the exhaust and all of the pretty welds and V band clamps as I finish the install.

Those look like they were a beotch to get in there.
Yeah honestly they are tight but luckily it's very easy to lift the V10 a few inches to get the clearance you need.
I just undo the bolt on each motor mount, remove the cross brace in the engine compartment and windshiled cowling (have to do this on all Gen 3-4-5).
Put the floor jack with something to spread out the force of the jack (block of wood) onto the oilpan and lift away.
If you're still stuck grab a prybar and rotate the motor a tad by leveraging the motormount, and it will slip right in. It sounds like a PITA but it's really not that difficult.
So far both designs (Tri Y and sandwich type ARH collector) have their own unique install issues, but both aren't that difficult to complete.

ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!!!! For years I bitched about the stupid 1 5/8 and 1 3/4" primary on these cars. Congrats on getting it done. Hope to see this for Gen 4-5 soon.
So now all we need is a 4.2L blower and a 2.0" primary and HELLO 1000rwhp twin screw setup.

Good. Looking forward to seeing what can be done with a real set of headers. I suspect we will see no less than 10rwhp bump over the 1 3/4.
I hope so, I made 602 RWHP SAE with the ARH's no cats through a factory 2 1/2 inch catback. Going to 1 7/8's no cats and a 3 1/2 inch catback. I would expect some gains. I'd be very happy at 620 RWHP with stock heads.
Im, planning a N/A build, going with these 1 7/8's headers and 3 1/2 back , do you think I would loose low end torq, from less back pressure ?
We'll see I will have it on the dyno before too long and thats the same build I have done. The Gen V Manifold help in a big way through the mid range. I picked up 30ftlbs through the middle of the power band so I am interested to see how these headers and catback compare to the American Racing Headers I had on before.
I will dyno this setup and the only thing left to do will be porting the stock heads.

My gut feeling with the mods that you are doing, at this point, your going to see more power from a tune than porting heads. But the gen4 Viper is at that sucks stage because it can't be tuned unless you go full standalone.
Also. Upgrade your TB's. the Pentstar V6 is 10mm bigger and uses the same bolt pattern. Dan Lesser said that nothing could be done. But. Whatever. It just needs an adaptor harness. Made by the same mfg as the Viper TB.
I suspect the gain would be about the same as TB upgrades in the past 3-10rwhp range. I would hope it would do more with the higher rpm and better flowing stock heads.
