Re : removing cats question: anyone ever lost instant low end torque ?

I know, many, many threads re cats.

Had a Vette in the past and once I removed the cats, yes it sounded great, and gained mid /top end, and LOUD, however, must admit I did have that feel of a loss of the 'instant' low end torque. Never had it on dyno but def. lost low end when I did it.

Anyone experience this ?

Considering removing my cats this week, after getting an updated sticker.

Not just about sound, but car being black, the paint has bubbled and actually peeled off on the drivers side. $$ and not cool.

Don't want this to continue with summer coming.
Also w the car now being 12 years old, I'm sure the stock cats are dogshit and totally clogged.

For anyone that have never seen one gutted, they look like a large bees nest.
So damned restrictive.

But, if I lose low end torque, it won't be worth it to me.
Feedback appreciated.

Thanks
Woody

Take them off. Your driving a big v10 that has no issue moving itself(torque). Also you will be very happy with having way less heat coming off of the side covers.

I would leave them on, I feel the same way and don't like the low end feel of catless no matter what it does on the top end (where you spend the least amount of time).

Replace with new aftermarket hi-flow cats.

My 510 stroker without cats would start to burn my eyes after 30 min ride and everything smelled like exhaust....

His car will benefit from removing them since its a stock car with a stock tune. Im guessing that your car has been retuned which may be causing the exhaust smell. We have removed several, too many to count, without any smelling issues at all. TAKE THEM OFF, Trust me you"ll be very happy with the out come plus WAY LESS HEAT.
