Does anyone in the Mississippi area own a Gen 2? I currently own a C6 Z06 and having been looking at Gen 2 Vipers. Having never driven one, I would really like to meet up with a current owner and at least take a ride in one.

Val Kilmer, you can drive my car. I heard you got thin again, and though I liked you as Fat Val Kilmer in MacGruber, Thin Val Kilmer can fit into a Viper a little better.

I have a vacation condo in Mississippi. If you'd like I'll give you the address. All you need to do is grab the keys from under the welcome doormat, once you are in the condo go upstairs master bathroom and the viper keys are in the jar with toothbrushes.

Remember to disconnect the battery tender before driving, and please fill up with 93oct when finished.

As someone who owns a 2008 JSB Z06 and a 2004 Mamba SRT-10 Roadster, my favorite between the two is the Viper, hands down. The SRT-10 is MUCH more of a driver's car than the Z06. I have a lot more fun with it, and feel more connected to it when I drive it. The Z06 has a lot more creature comforts but feels soft and unconnected. Both are stupid fast, but I get a lot more looks in the Viper than the Z06, because there isn't a "base" Viper. Most "normal" people don't really differentiate between a Z06 and a regular Corvette - there's 1000s of them around, you just blend into the crowd. With a viper, you're still in a super rare supercar. I still get excited when I see another Viper on the roads, even if I'm in mine all the time. GET A VIPER TOO, you won't regret it.

I think the guy is being legit and really wanting to upgrade and just check out someones Gen II. But just in case he's a fluke...

Hey man, you can drive mine. I'll be in Miss this weekend. I'll have the title in the glove box, so make sure you don't drive off with my car cause I'll be screwed!

Regarding the link to my post in the Gen 3 section, I am looking into Gen 2 and 3 Vipers. I would like to test drive one of each to compare. I'm not trolling, and would gladly let anyone who owns a Viper to test drive my Z06. We are all car enthusiasts here, and own cars that are out of the reach of most.

I actually enjoy the creature comforts in the Z06. I just really want to FEEL the car before I decide to buy one. While its nice to have a rare car, rarity also comes with a price. I just want to make sure I am ready to pay that price.

Why? Some dude in Virginia Beach asked for a ride and I hooked him up. Obviously I would never let anyone drive my car but I took him around the block. Unfortunately he will never be happy with anything less than what I have now lol.

I had a feeling that this thread could turn ugly on the op very fast.
I know I would hesitate to meet up with a person I've never met and posts that they would like to go for a ride in my car. There are some strange people out there that could turn an innocent encounter into something disastrous. Not saying this person is that type of guy, but who knows.
Besides, they don't have car dealerships in Mississippi? There isn't a single dealership with a viper in that state? That's how I got to drive the first viper I ever sat in. I wouldn't dream of asking someone I didn't personally know to drive their Prius, let alone a Viper that I had no experience behind the wheel of.
A Vette and a Viper are completely different monsters.

There was just a lot of things that could go wrong in this type of situation.
My comment was more geared towards the responses i thought he would get. Was thinking he was about to get lit up with funny or harsh replies.

Plus he's a Corvette owner, and I know you've seen how most of those types of posts are received here on the alley.

I must have been wrong.

I'm not local to you, but I will say this coming from someone who just bought a gen II after test driving a C6Z and both Gen II/III Vipers. The Z flat out feels faster because it is. You can really feel the lower overall gearing of the Z, and the way the power comes on cam up top is awesome. I ended up buying a 99 GTS with a Paxton, and although it is faster than the Z, it doesn't wake up until 3k.

Bottom line is, the C6Z is an awesome machine. If you're looking to switch to the dark side, do it for the right reasons. For me the Viper had the "it" factor. It goes hard, turns heads, and throws both middle fingers up to the haters. Unless your reasons are the same, or you intend on doing more than just bolt-ons, then stick with what you've got.

Good post, and I really am on the fence. My Z puts down 540whp, and is more than I would ever really need. With Vipers being more rare, and the Gen 2/3's getting older, I know if I ever want to own one, I need to do it soon. I love the way a blue/white, lowered Gen 2 Viper looks!
