Hey Everyone, I'm New!

Just wanted to say hi, I picked up my 94 today that I have been dreaming about since I was 17. She has 9K miles on her and I bought her from the original owner. I know I'll be asking a bunch of questions so just wanted to introduce myself to everyone! The ride home....ummmm, wow is all I can say, I have a permenant smile plastered on my face right now, excuse me while I run into the garage to check on her lol, attached is a quick picture my wife snapped just as I pulled in the driveway from bringing her home it was dark so sorry for the poor quality photo but I was pumped and had to pose with her...

Sounds familiar. I have had the car for 10 years and still hard to wipe the smile off my face. Congrats and enjoy

Thanks guys! I'm freezing right now, I had to take her out just now for a spin to make sure it was real lol it is like 50* outside here in KY lol. I am seriously in love, I feel like I'm having an affair but with a car, I just sit here and stare at her, it is so beautiful.

Ok, now for the fun stuff, where do I buy aftermarket stuff for her??? Is there any info that I should be reading as a new owner online? If so I would really appreciate a link. Also I am going to change the oil asap and was wondering what do you all use/recommend, full synthetic or just a good quality dino? Last question I am getting a little backfiring when getting off the throttle, I read some other posts where they are saying that is normal, just wondering is it? Thanks again, really proud to be part of the club!!!

Jason

Congrats on the new ride and welcome. Be easy with the pedal when not in a straight line.

Thanks guys, I learned that "easy on the pedal" thing tonight. i took my brother out for a ride and was in 2nd gear under 3K rpms and goosed it just a little going up a hill, went sideways (fucking awesome I can't stop smiling) but at the same time I was like damn. I have had a lot of cars, chevelles, grand nationals, cobras, vettes, porsches but NOTHING compares to this, it is a f'ing street legal race car in my opinion. Anyway I was just reading that thread on the "attention" you get in the viper. It is crazy, on the way home today from purchasing it (about 150 miles away) I stopped for gas. Within seconds of being there, all the girls and patrons in the place bum rushed me and my father asking what the awesome car was. Then within 2 minutes had a guy came up and tell me how he would take me in his 80K dollar Z06, I just smiled and said, "well it isn't a viper" and he looked stunned as I laughed and walked away....

Hilarious.

What are you looking to do Aftermarket wise? On a Gen I, I would start with headers:

ViperAlley Classifieds - Belanger 1 3/4" headers, good condition - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

Make your own exhaust, 3" straight pipe with your choice of 6" round mufflers.

Congrats on your ride! Like someone else said earlier, you need to check out the tires on the car before you push it at all! If they are over 7-10 years old, you need to change all four NOW. Hard rubber + the low end torque = trouble you don't need. This is also not even taking into account the tires could fail during driving. I am in fact trying to scare you! Get them replaced if they are old! As far as the other stuff goes, do a search for the available mods. Tons of info. Best stuff to start out with is full exhaust and a CAI (again, do a search and you will find out the best prices and where). Ebay and the classified sections are a good place to start looking for stuff as well. Good luck and congrats again.

99rt, I would like to look at some more modern hoods with all the vents running up I really like those, but a google search revealed nothing, and i have know idea if a gen II or II or IV will fit my gen I, that is why I am looking for a link to tons of "info" on these cars, I want to read everything I can. I bought this car (for the first time ever I think) on pure passion alone. When I pulled up and saw it I swear I heard that song "Dream Weaver" and knew she was mine, have I said how much I love my new Viper lol....

He is exactly right! Headers are a great starting mod and Belangers are the best! Mike (99RT/10&GTS) is the best and has a bunch of good quality parts! I have been a customer of his for years and he has always come through for me with great prices AND quality!

You'd never expect a 16 year old car to comand so much attention, But then again that's just one of many reasons we own these bad ass cars!

BTW, Congrats on your new purchase & welcome to the family.

Do this!
Your car will then sound as good as it looks.

I'm not even sure where to start on your hood question.
Let's just say, leave the hood alone for now until you learn more about the prices on these cars
