Can anyone tell me if these are stock headers?

I was told when I bought the car they are Borla but I'm haivng doubts. I also can't find any marks on them to prove they are.

I didn't think they were stock but it's really hard to tell since there's not a lot of info on Borla headers out there. I'm guessing Borla headers give a 10hp increase if I'm lucky?

As long as I know they aren't stock I feel a little better about it but I wish there was an easy way to find out.

A dumb question... Any way to get rid of the rust on those connections easily?

thanks

I had Borla headers at one time on my GenII, here some pics of what they looked like:

These were 1 5/8" stepped headers and I was told they were the older design. If you do have these and ever need to replace the round header gasket check with Dan at DC Performance as he used to stock them.

Hope this helps,
- Tony

They actually look like they could be early prototype American racing headers, the tubes are all the same shape and position, flanges are different, but that could have changed since yours were made. The only other headers made in the same style are Borla (which they are not) and Edelbrock which they don't look like either.

They were done in 2000 when the car was new from what I was told..

One reason I was asking is If they were stock I was going to get some headers. But since I'm not sure if they are shit or not I'm not sure if I should upgrade them.

I do have a cat-back borla setup right now and was trying to figure out the header situation...

I like the sound the car makes and the power is fine for me now. It also has Accufab TB, Full Port and polish and some other custom stuff was done with the previous owner. Pic below..

ahh.. I might as well just save my money and put it to a 3 piece trunktop that I saw Jeff's company makes..

Those look like the same ones I have. I even have the same header bolts and retainers.
I was told they are an early Borla version that had smaller diameter piping. Mine were also bought around 00 and the previous owner gave me the receipt. I also have a full 3" Borla exhaust.
This pic was right after I had them ceramicoated, but they looked like yours before that. They seem to work just fine for me.

tony,
those headers have a round collector (and nicer design) than the Borlas I have. Mine have an upside-down trapezoid collector shape. Also, mine are not connected along the flanges like that.
However, the 1-5/8" sounds like the size of my Borlas as well.

I was told mine were the older style design and were discontinued at some point. Dan DC Performance seemed to know more about them at the time (2006). The collector area was a problem as the gasket would blow out/disintegrate from time to time and leaks ensued. Although I think those headers made good torque in the low-mid RPM. I eventually ditched them for Belangers.

Let me add that one of the issues I ran into with these Borla headers is with the exhaust hanger on the turnouts. With the engine torquing a bit and the hanger installed the headers would shake themselves loose since there's no flex connection. Don't use the hangers with these.

- Tony

So it seems I have some first edition borlas. Maybe a museum will want them someday. Thanks for the info.

Mine seem to be on well and I haven't had any issues with them. They will stay on for now. Any idea what hp gain you get with the full Borla setup.... My guess is 30hp???

They are all relatively close, depending on the car, anywhere from 25-35 HP. If you want a different setup, I have a new set of Edlebrock headers for sale..........
