vinyl wrap

I'm thinking about wrapping my 2001 acr in flat black.

Has anyone had a bad experience with a vinyl wrap peeling off or anything in short order ( a couple years)?

Any suggestions on the best place to get it done? near Detroit/ Chicago?

Thanks in advance

Some edges will peel over time.
It will scratch and nick with wear and tear.
Flat black will be a pain in your ass to maintain. Just think of a chalkboard.

I'm told the widest rolls on vinyl are 24" so then there'd be seams all over the car? does that blend in pretty well or will it look like I tried to wall paper my car?

It depends on who does the work. You can't see my seams from 5' away...especially if you don't know where they are. Most people assume my car is painted, until I tell them differently and they take a closer look.

We wrap about 10 vehicles a year and the only problem we ever have as stated above is the corners. Good luck!

Just leave her red, vinyl stripe her with black, white, or darkgrey.
It will cost a fraction of wraping the whole car and will look alot better.

Photoshop help:

You guys have me thinking about doing something a little different now. What do you think a red gts would look like with the front bumper, hood, and roof piece black or dark grey leaving the sides and back red. Kind of follow the curves of the car and body panels to make a 2 tone.

Can anyone please photoshop an example for our discussion?

Thanks

That would look like crap, the black clamshell hood overlapping the red sidesills.
The way to do this is to paint Only the top of the GTS black, and part of the back.
Just doing these areas with wrap would prob be fairly cheap.

Look at these pics:
https://www.viperalley.com/forum/vipe...scheme-my.html

I still like the dark grey stipes better though.

Makes sense....most flat black wraps have no laminate....very prone to spotting. At least your paint has a flat/low sheen clear coat.
