HELP! viper wont stay running
Here is the deal.
I have a 97 viper gts with 6200 miles on it and its bone stock.
I had the car stored for the whole winter. I only started it maybe twice.
I put new gas in it and it will start but wont stay running. It has a choppy idle.
Could it just be the plugs or maybe the injectors need to be cleaned? What should my first steps be to diagnose the problem"?
Please help. any and all suggestion are as always appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Your battery could be toast. For some reason when a battery fails to take a proper charge, it causes all sorts of crazy bouncing, rough idle issues, or dies.

How long has it been since the last set of plugs and wires? If more than a few years, def. do those anyway.

Can you get it to start and kinda "keep" it running by giving it some gas. Maybe it just needs to re-learn how to run again. If it tries to stay running with some throttle, then take it around the block.

well. i guess im just gonna have to buy an optima.
I will throw some injector cleaner in as well. what is this seafoam stuff?
Is it a good idea to try to keep the car running if it wants to die? What about misfire?

Idle Air Control pintle may be stuck. Weak battery or bad connections also cause problems.

seafoam is used on vehicles that have been sitting for awhile, cleans the injectors and gets rids of condensation in the tank.
it costs around 8 bucks for a bottle

seafoam has made my service dept good money over the years. that shit sucks. do not use that.
if you started the car with the battery charger connected, you might have thrown a cell and or smoked the TPS. seen it a few times. how long did you let it run for? could be a sticking injector. let it get up to operating temp and then check for codes

None of that stuff is difficult. The battery is a bit tedious to get to, but not bad.
MSD has a very nice set of spark plug wires for these things too. PM
99RT10TT , his store carrys MSD brand and can get them at a good price!
