Issue meaning you've got the cam ready to go in and something's not working out?
Otherwise why in the world would you go to the trouble to add a relatively mild OE cam ?
Was told by NUMEROUS people on BOTH sites that a 708 from the 96-99 viper would bolt directly in a gen.1 engine. The engine I have here is an early 94 w/ 4 ribs and the 708 cam is 30 thou. smaller than the one I took out.
The 708 cam is a direct drop into a Gen I and is a great mod! It is one of the best all around cams EVER designed, period! Mitch grab it and drop it in. Also if you have 1.7 RR it raises the lift to 480+ and sounds incredible! I believe Phil(plumcrazy) still has one for sale. PM him. Better than most ANY cam out there.
Discovered the engine we are working on has been modified. The bore for the cam is 30 thou. oversize as is the cam. Checked specs in the shop manual and they don't jive. I'm assuming the block had a defect at the factory and they bored it 30 over and put a bigger cam in it. I think the only option is to bore the block and put in bearings.............

I didn't even know that was possible. So can you put in bearing to bring it back to factory specs and who would sell the bearings? I am assuming it would be similar as theh 360 CID engine?

Yes you can have Cam bearing's put in it's a simple job if the machine shop know's what they are doing! All the race engine's in the GTS/R's are running them and we have had them done on many engine's here in SoCal also. Where are you located?

Could be, but usually people are taking out their all around cam and putting something more specific in aren't they? Creampuffs don't ET any slower than OE cars with 708 cams..

I don't care-I'm not doing the labor !
Yeh I would just go with a custom ground cam, 708 cars only put down a little more power when opened up, if your going to go through the work of installing a cam might as well get one ground that will put down some nice gains.
