Thumbs up For those wanting to quiet your exhaust…

I finally found a combination that sounds awesome but doesn’t wake the dead. Originally with my S/C setup I was running B&B headers/exhaust with NO cats. The car sounded incredible, but was VERY loud. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the sound, but I was constantly worrying about the noise when I jumped on it. I have a couple cop buddies that said it would warrant a ticket if an officer was in the mood. In addition, forget about having a conversation in the car, LOL. I decided to put a set of Dynomax bullets in where the cats/straight pipe used to be. If you are familiar with these mufflers they are pretty much straight through with a little bit of packing. I don’t think they made a difference at all.

Thanks to post by 1TONY1, I decided to try out the Moroso spiral flow mufflers and replace the Dynomax bullets with them. Man what a difference! By no means is the car quiet, but they really took the edge off at full throttle. The car still sounds very aggressive, but it takes that loud bite out of the exhaust that makes people cringe and run for cover. The biggest difference I noticed was in the interior. It really helped out the drone. I can actually hear the S/C now.

As far as flow, since they do help with the sound I assume they limit flow a tad. Who knows how much, maybe Tony has an idea. Regardless, it can’t be too much and they definitely are worth it if you are having a noise issue.

I have to apologize, I have no pictures or sound clips. My three year old was taking a nap and I had that small window to bang out the job. You can check theme out here.

Those look interesting.
I have B&B's, no cats and a Corsa, and it has that hard "bite" when you light into a little in lower gears. Hell...I had people jumping off the ground on the sidewalk coming through Olde Town in Philly this weekend (unintentionally, of course).
Are the spiral flows available only in a black finish?

It would be instructive to do a dyno run and compare the difference from the Dynomax setup.

I run these as well. Love the sound. And they are $50 ea. Cheap! I think they make a polished version for $89 ea... But I'm not 100 sure.

1TONY1 turned me on to these a while back... And they rock!

Yeah, I kinda agree with you. I like the noise, but sometimes it gets old. I would just like to tone mine down a tad.
Its louder with the blower on it Chad. Before I put the blower on, it didnt bother me much.

I drive my Viper as my beater, and a lot of noise is BS. I also drive my car on long trips too and again, the noise is BS. If you do 60 MPH in a loud car, you will get pulled over faster than a quiet car doing 75 MPH. I appreciate stealth where ms0ot people think my Viper is stock and pull up beside me in their 5.0 w NOS or a Vette and a set of pulleys or the like.

I put these on my car so that I could hear the playstation noises when i was in the staging lanes. Too loud otherwise.

The _other_ problem is that those damn remote controls don't like race gloves too much. I'm getting better, though.

Sheeeiiiit.....it is by far quiet. I guarantee you will love it when you hear it. At idle it is about the same. At wide open throttle it just eliminates a certain irritating pitch. To give you an example, my neighbor still can't hear his car over mine when I am in the gas.

I like exhaust with some quality muscle car sound at idle and full throttle scream but not crazy loud where it's tiring.

Kinda like comparing a riced out import with fart cans vs. a Ferrari 355 with Tubi exhaust.

My Viper was to loud under light throttle conditions after the cats were removed. I needed to take the edge off of it. I want my car to rock the neighborhood at 3,000 rpms but until that point I want peace and serenity.
After talking to both Doug Levin and Jason Heffner I decided to go with 2 Burns mufflers just before the stock mufflers. I had Jason install them for me since he is very close to my house and I didn't want to trek down to Miami to do it.

I can not believe the difference. It is absolutely fantastic. I can now go on long interstate rides and really enjoy myself and my music at 80mph. When you open the car up it sounds like the gates of hell have opened up. Perfect balance even though the Burns were expensive.

I believe Gary J has 4 Burns mufflers on his red beast. Gary has this thing about being quiet when he kicks ass. Small hint for Mr Boggs. You want even know Gary is smokin you till you see his tailights.

I'd have to see some flow bench results on the spiral flows to believe they flow better than a glasspack as their website claims. Of course the term glasspack could mean any number of types of mufflers.

The Moroso website doesn't list any CFM data for their mufflers. DynoMax does though, so...

Anyone familiar with flow characteristics would know that the flow is going to be impeded with a large spiral device in the middle of the can..

I'd buy some if I thought they worked, but it sounds like another marketing gimmick to me.

..Besides, the exhaust system I've made for mine is quiet and measures ZERO back pressure at WOT.

I took 1TONY1's recommendation a couple of years ago and added the Spiral Flows to my Corsa. You can have a conversation in the car at any speed yet it does get loud at WOT which is good. I am curious as to how much HP is lost as it is not a straight through design. Either way it is worth it for the sound.

I have those on order now...running just HF cats and the Bullets with nothing else is badass at first....but it gets old quick! You can have a conversation at speed....if you don't mind yelling.

One day it would be nice to flow one of these vs other designs. I know it may not be 100% true but for the most part louder = better flow. I am willing to give up loud for a nice reasonable sound. All my runs in the sig were with the spiral flows and a Dynomax can muffler on each side with B&B headers. The sound was fine until I removed the high flow cats and only had the Dynomax.....then it was to loud and also resonated at highway speeds for me to enjoy the car. They fit nicely too.

I have to agree with Tony. I'm sure they restrict flow more than straight through setups, but the small amount you loose (I'm guessing here) is well worth it.

People that hear my car for the first time still say, Damn that viper is loud. Only the people that are familiar with the car can tell there is a change is sound. To me, it actually sounds better as well as a hint quieter.
