Major Difference between a 97 GTS and a 98 GTS

Guys,

What are the major real difference (if any) between the 97 GTS and the 98 GTS? Lumpy cams, forged pistons are from 96-99 I believe.. just clarifying. My brother wants a GTS but he wants one like mine. I have the 98

Your motor is basically ready for forced injection, unlike my 02 where I would have to be very careful with forced injection due to crampy pistons.

There are only minor cosmetic differences. The finish on the dash for '96 and '97 is smooth. The '98+ has the pebble finish. I believe '98+ also has the addition of the airbag cutoff switch.

The major difference between the 97 & 98 is Tubular stainless headers (24 lbs. lighter, unclaimed + 4hp) and Alarm reset switch in the glove box

Plus, if I'm not mistaken, 96 and early 97 cars had wheels that were constructed of 2 pieces and were prone to breakage (heliarched all the way around; halfway through the wheel.) Part way through 97, they went with one piece which were much stronger; thereby elininating the problem, right?
