After 4 years of stewardship, I am sad to say that I have sold my Viper. I need a car that can haul around kids, so I ordered an M3.
I still remember when I first saw the Viper concept at the LA Auto show way back in 1990. What a thrill that was. I pined for the car for 12 years, and finally made my dream come true in 2002. Although I never tracked the car, I had many opportunities to enjoy the power on the streets around Orange County.
I'll miss all the smiles people give when they see a Viper heading their way. The little kids exuberant jumping up and down and pointing when I drive near. The thumbs up from older gearheads that appreciate the Vipers sportscar prowess. The furtive looks by anonymous babes in the parking lots. The slam my head back torque that never seemed to end.
All gone, but not likely forgotten for a very long time.
All these guys dumping their Vipers for minivans. Years from now every one of them is gonna hear their kid say "Dad, I wish you would have kept that car."
That is absolutely right. When I was born my father had a Yellow Camaro SS. I never remembered the car, but saw pictures of it when I was older. And something I realized recently was that I have a yellow Viper and I recently had a son.
