K&N airfilter re-design?? anyone know?

hey peeps,

I was checking out the VCA illustrated guides. On the "how to install" K&N airfilter. It stated that you had to grind down the ridges of your stock airbox a little. In order for the K&Ns to fit. My question is, has K&N re-designed thier filters. So that they fit in the box without any mods?

I bought a used 96' RT/10 that came with K&N filters. When I bought the K&N cleaner kit, and removed the filters to clean them, I didnt see any signs of my airbox being modified. So either the filters have been redesigned or someone did a really good job at modifying the airbox where noone could notice.

I beleive (and reserve the right to be corrected) that Chris aka Y2KSRT10's 2003 install was near flawless in fit yet his 2K5 VCA Yellow edition was more of a problem that he opted to sell the K & N combo. Maybe he'll chime in here.

Same here. My '97 had K&N's...I purchased new ones and they went in with no issues. No sign of AB modification.

And what is with this 'peeps' thing?
