Engine pics of my 94 with ?'s about them.

I'm uploading a few engine pictures and wanted a few comments from the gallery. I just had the fluids changed about two weeks ago and the rad overflow is empty and the clutch fluid level looks low. Also a rusty bolt and more. Engine is cold as it has not been driven in a couple of days. Can anyone see any issues or want to make a comment. Thx in advance

That poor girl needs some attention. Just towel out the fluid in the Master, and add clean DOT 4, and bleed. Get a new overflow. Pull off each nut/bolt and wire brush each one.

What upsets me is that the car was just recently at the dealership getting a fluid change and a 32 point inspection by a viper tech. The report said the oil cooler line was older but not rotten and a spot or two of rust near the exhaust. No mention of low clutch fluid or even the fact the wheels were on the wrong sides of the car. Maybe the viper tech never saw a gen 1 or maybe they had someone else do the work. Service advisor said it might take into the second day to complete the fluid change. I got it late the same day. Going back to get a wheel alignment so I'll ask plenty of questions.

If the rad fluid was not burped or properly refilled the engine will belch some air after the thermostat opens up and replace it with fluid from the reservoir and overflow tank. Just refill the reservoir and check the overflow tank for the correct level. You might have to check and top off the fluids a few times until all the air is out of the engine.

Exhaust bolts rust. That one doesn't look great but if it aint broke don't fix it. Replace it when it snaps off or you're doing something that requires you to remove the exhaust.

That the plug wires are original - date coded 1-'94. I'd suggest VERY carefully turning the #9 plug boot and clocking that wire around so it doesn't lay on any metal.

Top of the clutch cap says DOT 3 ONLY. I'm assuming it has dot 3 and not dot 4 fluid. I'm not in a position to bleed out the old and put new in so I'm going to add just enough dot 3 to get me to the dealership for my alignment this coming week. Rad fluid is the Mopar green stuff. Car has not been running hot, even on 90+ days. Thanks

Yes and anything else you can see. I'm assuming I still have the paper gasket and nothing engine wise has been touched. Car has 25k miles on it. Two thousand in those in the last 12 years.

As far as the cooling system goes, 92/93 cars didn't have the header tank on the passenger fender and they were a MAJOR bitch to get all the air pockets out of the system. '94 began the tank placement, but it's still a chore to make sure it's all coolant. Tons of threads on the procedure here.

If you change the plugs and wires with new ones you'll probably notice a big difference.

As soon as I took possession of the car it was at the dealership getting all the fluids changed and a 32 point inspection. Noticed the clutch and power steering fluids were not changed at the time. Why, I do not know. Everything checked out by their supposed viper tech. Going back Monday for an alignment so I'll have them recheck the fluids. Car is so original and has only 25k miles. I'm sure I could open my wallet and get plugs and wires done along with anything else but that will take a little time. Taking care of the most important things first. Fluids, tires and alignment first.

Nobody, other than another member here, will ever take as good a care or pay as close of attention to detail, or be able to fix and maintain these cars better that YOU.

Somebody told me that 5 years ago when I got my car. "Viper Techs" are Snake Oil.

Get a manual. Ask questions. Buy tools.

They see you and they see "hours." You come here with problems: I've seen threads go on forever until satisfaction is had. You can only talk to a "Viper Tech" for so long before their eyes glaze over.
