Paxton Supercharged Gen2s....Looking for Advice and Setups

I recently purchased a 1998 GTS with a Paxton kit on it and I'd like to see what some of the other Paxton owners have seen for results....previous owner said the car made around 550whp on a Mustang dyno and that was with the 3.75" default pulley, stock headers, and a Corsa exhaust. I recently ordered some Belangers for it which are being made and I'd like to make a few other changes to see a bump in power. I was going to give Doug at DLM a call this week about a smaller pulley and his tensioner setup with a Gates HD Green belt.....I'd also like to possibly jump over to e85, but the problem is the tuning side of things....I've been considering going with HPTuners, but the Gen2 support and features seem limited....and Im not looking to make a full jump to an AEM or Motec setup quite yet.

So if you have a Paxton on your Gen2 please post away with your dyno numbers, track numbers, setups, etc....Would like to see what everyone has done. Thanks!

Also looking to do new plugs as these have been in here for awhile....everyone liking the Champion RC10ECC? I was looking at the Brisk cross reference to them since I've had great luck with Brisk on our LS and Coyote race platforms.

I also noticed another Viper owner recommended the NGK 4291 gapped to .028" for boosted setups....I've never used Champion personally and Brisk and NGK are my go-tos.

Once you install the Belanger headers and a smaller pulley 3.00 - 2.75, you will run out of fuel and will need to upgrade your fuel system. It happened to me. Also, it is strongly recommended to change your valve springs, retainers etc. when making these upgrades. Doug Levin will tell you the same. Don't let anyone tell you different. If you decide to go e85, you will need to upgrade your fuel system with 1000cc injectors, fuel lines, fuel pumps etc. to support the e85 conversion.

My 97 Paxton car is with Drummond Race Cars getting Striker heads/cam upgrade (port matched to intake), 2.75 pulley and 70mm TB's (port matched to intake). Hope to be in the 900rwhp range when complete.

My setup before heads/cam on 93:

Paxton S/C
Fuel Rail Upgrade Kit
65 Injectors,
Twin Pump Fuel System
SCT XCalibrator
Water Meth
Belanger headers
Jesel roller rockers
HF Cats
Doug Levin intercooler upgrade
2.8 pulley with belt tensioner - Doug Levin
Dyno ## 720rwhp

I have heard people say that they were able to get 800+ without heads/cam. I wonder what they're smokin. Lol

70mm TB's will cost you power on a Paxton car. I had Greg good heads, DLM built the motor, 14lbs and was at like 870rwhp no meth. The best thing you can do when building a Paxton car is talk to Doug Levin. He will always talk to you and help out.

I have spoken to Doug Levin, Chuck Tator and Kevin at Exotic Engine Development. I was told that 70mm TB's will hurt low speed driveability without the supporting mods such as (forced induction, heads, cam headers tune etc. With a bigger cam the 67-70mm TB's proved to be worthwhile. Also, you have Greg Good heads to get 870rwhp. Did you upgrade your CAM? I am currently pushing 720rwhp without heads or a CAM and hope to improve my numbers to the 900rwhp range with the Striker heads/cam and a 2.75 pulley upgrades.

Although i am no means a tuner or engine builder i was told to go to the 70mm throttle bodies for max level build when i did my gen 2..i ended up @ just under 15lbs. Paxton novi 2000, 1031rwhp & 985 rwtq...thats with 70 mm bodies & extrude honed gen 2 intake...i will say that low rpm driveability does suffer a little bit..

I'm even further from a tuner but Joseph fell did back to back Dyno pulls with and without 70mm TB's and his car lost power with them on. He wasn't the only one tondo it as well. But your numbers sound great, don't sweat it lol

Wow!! 1031rwhp on pump gas and WM under 15lb. I'm assuming these numbers are with e85. Most people with this setup use e85 to achieve these numbers.

I also bought my Gen2 with a Paxton Novi 2000 on it. High-flow cats, B&B exhaust, and SCT tune (not sure if it's custom) made 575hp on a DynoJet on 91 octane. Person I bought it from included a smaller pulley, but I haven't done any research into what's needed on my car if I were to install that.

Those numbers are right on for that setup. Depending on the size of the pulley, you may need a smaller belt (Green Gates HD belt) and re-tune. Also, talk to Doug Levin 954-434-9356 about a belt tensioner.

Who did the build? I would like to know the secret sauce for 1031rwhp on 91 octane, water/meth and less than 15lb of boost with a Paxton.

Appreciate the info. I think I'll stick with this setup first...need to get used to the car and am hoping to take it to some open track days.

the motor build was done local to me but purchased many parts & got a lot of advice from Todd Abrams A&C performance who also remote tuned the car..car also made 915 rwhp with 11lbs of boost when motor had less than 50 miles..I believe a lot of my power comes from my heads as they flow over 300 cfm @.600..also using gripped oversize crank pulley as well as gripped 2.75..
