Viper Crankshaft

Hey ViperAlley,

Building a custom viper crankshaft. I don't want to take the engine apart until the crank is built. Do any of you know the dimensions of the crankshaft? Alternatively, do you know if the iron block crankshaft has the same dimensions as the viper crankshaft? Then I could grab the truck crank for cheap and go from there.

Thanks.

We don't know you from Adam, but if you aren't interested in even purchasing a junk crankshaft to start with, along with an eBay service manual for journal specs, you are headed down the road for EPIC FAILURE.

There is a qualitative description, not much quantitative information. The journal diameter is simple enough to find, unlike the other information. Do you know where to get the crankshafts you described in your post?

For what you want I’m not sure it matters. As far as I know the iron truck engines have little in common with the viper and I’m pretty sure they use a cast crank like the LA engines.

The crankshaft being cast is fine, as it would be for measurements. A broken crankshaft though might skew the dimensions, altering the length and center-line of the crankshaft.

Thank you, but that is more that I would spend for a reference. Looks like the iron block crankshaft is the same as the viper in terms of dimensions.
