A good friend of mine shared some very sad news. His TT '99 had a fuel line issue not far from home and the car is toasted.
We think it is probable that the rubber liner of his AN hoses may have deteriorated from Ethanol in the fuel. Almost had it put out twice with small fire extinguishers, only to erupt again before the FD showed up. Note the key position - it may have kept pumping fuel despite the engine being dead.
Good thing the Valve cover did not get going more.. They are magnesium and very hard to put out. I purchased a TT years ago that had the same thing but worse because of the valve cover. I am always buying if he wants to sell for more than buyback but unfortunately thinking it will be a parts car.
