Aem ems

Okay, I have the old AEM, I had the voltage regulator go bad in the AEM...Mike (99GTS&RT10) sent me another one. Worked great for about a month, then last night stuck in traffic car was running hot (225) Voltage was like 13.1 which is normal when the car is warm at idle. Then next thing I know I look over and its at 9...yet again. I limp her home. I am extremely frustrated.

I am about to put an external voltage regulator on the car. BUT before I try that, I would like to get these two AEM's repaired. So if anyone knows who or where I can send them, please let me know. I was told AEM no longer supports these cause of how old they are. Any help would be appreciated.

I took one apart, but couldnt get the top circuit board off to look for damaged solder.

Is 13.1 volts really normal under idle? Does this keep your car charged. I am having charging issues right now that I am fighting and I feel like 13.1 volts will not keep the car charged? I tried doing an external votage regulator for my car but only to find out that the gen 1 engines (96rt-10) have internally regulated alternators. I was thinking about just 1 wiring it because I cannot find out why my voltage keeps dropping since when i start it, it runs at about 14.55 volts and slowly drops.

I think the last time I looked at my data logs, I was at 13.8v or something like that...at idle. Seemed perfectly fine to me. GEN-II.

Send your AEM to Todd he can get it fixed. Just had mine done 6 months ago. Funny thing is I shipped him the cable back for the AEM guessing it was for you.

Maybe try putting some heat tape around the AEM box?

Mike check your PM's. Its roughly 200$ to fix the board if its fixable for the alternator regulator and its like 275$ if they have to get a replacement board from AEM...if AEM still makes them.

I’d take the number as well. I’ve got two AEM EMS and one is a brick at the moment.
