My Bulbous Hose

First time I've seen this. Replaced the green with orange fluid last year. Both tanks are filled. Thermo gauge operates normally. No overheating. It feels like it is full of air but after warmup I try to burp it and nothing seems to happen. I don't feel if filling up with coolant.

I remember Dave6 saying it will burp itself if the tanks are filled. That's always worked for me in the past.

Ideas?

It goes flaccid when cooled down. A bit underinflated, like it needs somebody to blow it up.

I think you might have a break in the inner hose liner. That would allow fluid to get between the fabric plys and outer hose. You might also have a blockage in the radiator near the return inlet. At any rate, I wouldn't trust that hose to last another week.

Yep, or the worse option, leak in the headgasket causing excessive pressure in the cooling system.

Thanks Dean, I was waiting for your input. Definitely looking for a new hose. That one is a Chinese aftermarket. OEM are no longer available, as far as I've been able to tell anyway.

If I had any sort of blockage wouldn't I see an increase on the temp gauge?

Anyone try these Mishimoto hoses?

I see Roe has them.

These are five-ply. $$$. Think they're worth it?

Got my new hoses. Just happen to get a set from Mishimoto and a set from Roe Racing so I decided to make a comparison.
Durameter readings are identical.
Caliper reading showed thickness was identical.
Both have the same number of fiber reinforcement rows.
The Mishi (left) is red all the way through.
The Roe (right) is only red on the outside layer. The inner layer is a brownish color.
Mishi comes with only the hoses and arrived in a couple days.
Roe includes clamps and a license plate frame and arrived in five days.

Conclusion: None. I'm not a chemist or engineer. Roe supports Vipers so I suggest Roe. Price is only a few bucks more and you get the clamps and a really nice 100% real plastic license plate frame.

Also, I have a 100% pure plastic original license plate frame for sale. Never installed. First $200 + shipping takes it.

I have them and they seem to be great! They feel like they'll hold up better than the stockers. I replaced them when i replaced my leaking radiator but i cant say i have thousands of miles on them just yet. They are a tight fit however but seem to do the job just fine so far.
