Bigger Engine?

Heard/read a rumor that the Final Edition Vipers had a larger engine installed. Was thinking maybe people were just being sarcastic and screwing around. Is this story true?

VIN Numbers ending in 4xx - 777. One owner of the V12 used his engine as part of mechanical engineering experiment at Northeastern University. He successfully tuned it into two V6 engines using the same crankshaft and cam shaft. Oddest thing ever but it worked in the engineering lab at least. He stopped short of strapping it to a frame and using two transmissions to drive each side of the car separately. Ran out of grant money.

Actually we did create a go kart style frame and had them mounted to it. We needed an axle hub dyno so we could monitor power output on each side so we could program the ECU to correctly control the left and right wheels and not drift left or right since you would never get the exact same output. We were able to compensate power output through the ECUs.
We played around with increasing power depending on steering angle and it was the weirdest driving experience. at less speed of course.

The real info is this, the engine was the same for the generation it was in. FE vipers were nothing more than a special color combo of Red w/ white stripes.

2002 FE: 8.0L 460hp Gen2

2006 FE: 8.3L 505hp Gen3

2010 FE: 8.4L 600hp Gen4

I met one of the researchers a couple years ago. He said that it all would have been do-able with the GenV controller's traction and electronic damper controls. The JTEC was too primitive and Chrysler did not have anything else remotely up to the task.

Weren't there three carbon fiber engine blocks in 2012? One made it out to production and the other two were prototypes whereabouts unknown.
