RE: AutoMeter Dashlink $149 @ Summit This has BlueTooth to cell phone

Thinking of getting it for trip from NV home to PA on 1996 GTS.

Has anyone used this in a Gen 2, in particular a 1996 with it's OBD1.5 (haha)?

Need to know if I can create a display page where I can show (among others):
  • TPS
  • IAT
  • IAC
  • MAP
  • Timing
  • LT & ST Fuel Trim

96 GTS would be ODB 2. Data logging can be tricky with a Gen 2 as the data rate is slow and most loggers lock up. I have a few I've used, but none worked well other than my PCMSCAN software with my laptop.

I don't know if I'd call these devices data loggers since they are supposed to be a "gauge."

Of course, if they use data logging circuitry, then there would be issues.

Not exactly what I wanted to hear - I really would like (actually need) all-the-time display of certain OBDII parameters and can't have a laptop or DRBIII I can't read while driving bouncing around in the passenger seat...

They are quite bold saying they work with ALL OBDII 96 and after though and have compatibility lists which do not indicate any issues with early JTEC.

Android Torque Pro ($5) works fine, although the refresh rate on the Viper sucks (1 per second?). You can probably use any ODBII bluetooth dongle from ebay, personally I use a legit ODBLink MX bluetooth adapter to support local businesses, paired with a Droid X.

From memory, so don't hold me to the "No's":
Yes TPS
Yes IAT
No IAC
Yes MAP
Yes Timing
Yes LT & ST Fuel Trim

Unless you find a custom pid to pull up a datastream for those "No's" listed. Otherwise the Viper only provides about a dozen standard PIDs to monitor.

Ive got an ultraguage on my 01 gts and it can display what you're asking. I Do suggest if you get one that you bump the refresh rate up on it through the settings to make it poll more frequently so you get closer to real-time data.
i believe though you can only show 4 gagues per page but you can split what you want up into two pages you can cycle between. Its been a while since ive used it, because my car hasnt been running since spring, but my biggest gripe was where to mount it. I opted for the suction cup windshield mount but mounting it on the left hand drivers side in the corner of the windshield is still too close to the steering wheel and your hand will touch when turning the wheel.
