1996 GTS Gen II 2 Power Steering Fluid Update: What to use?

Found years old recommendations and their supercedes:

04883077 => 68218064AC

MS5930 => MS-9602

Both of the superceded #'s are for "Power Steering Fluid +4" which the "years old" recommendation said DO NOT USE (including ATF+4)

What to use?

I think I topped off with DEXTRON III some years ago since there was a bottle in the trunk along with other Chrysler fluids.

Being a 40-plus year Mopar guy, I put absolutely no red fluids in my power steering systems. BAD ju-ju.

I should have just taken car to dealer and do an oil change, lube, etc. rather than suffer working in NV sun outside and no jackstands to speak of and crappy floor jacks. And let the dealer do what they way, I'm tired of the drama - check out my 2 new threads regarding power brake boosters and backfiring through intake with non-scanning O2 sensors....

There are a lot of little things going on with your new ride. Personally, I would seriously be considering calling Frank Barba, or renting a u-haul to tow it back. Driving it could possibly turn into a trip from Hell.

Yes, I k now what you mean. This car never missed a beat for the 18 years I've had it. Barba doesn't do coast to coast. Cost is insane. Uhaul truck/trailer is $2500 just for the rental. Roadrunner open carrier wants $1500. Stumbled across a small time broker that said he could get it done for $1200 with a 7 to 8 car coast to coast rig.

Plus side being here in NV would be I could supervise loading. Then get ready for a real butt reaming for a "right now" airline ticket.

That Roadrunner quote sounds pretty good. With a 1-way load you have to consider the hauler's expenses for a round trip, plus your airfare.

Not really, RoadRunner will run a full length car carrier and they book solid each way.

Some time ago 5-10 years. the brokers were calling me up with prices $900 to 1000.

I always tell them they have 2 months to book, so they can wait until a carrier gets caught with an empty space.

The dealership that sold me my new Viper tried to fix me up with their hauler and I ended up in their retail operation and they wanted $2200 open carrier.

I know the dealer car auctions have a shipping network to move cars from one auction site to another all over the country. That would probably be the rock bottom price for shipping a car, but I don't have any connections any more.

I'm off to pull some codes with my DRBIII...
