repair & paint prep

Well i'm back! due to some life circumstances i haven't been able to work on my viper for the past five years. I left off with all the repairs done but needing to prep and paint the body. I've tried searching but there doesn't seem to be much info out there on repair and painting. I can't even figure out what the quarters are made out of for sure ! I have some minor repairs to be made to the passenger quarter panel (The first 2 pics) and some minor cracking in the paint on the hood, At least I'm hoping its just the paint. (last pic) any info on the best way to deal with/repair this would be great. i'm planing to do a color change when i repaint since its already disassembled so any advice on how to prep would be much appreciated too.

thanks in advance

It might be easier to get another hood. Then no worry about it cracking again.

That’s a poor previous repair. Strip it down to raw factory fiberglass and lay new fiberglass mat and resin down

Go to this site and look through this thread. This guy is an expert on fiberglass repair. It is really involved though, to do it right.

Well with a decent hood costing a 1/4 of what I paid for the car i'd like to avoid that. I took a better picture the last was really close up and made them look bigger then they actually are, they do cover most of the hood. I guess I won't really know tell I start sanding and see what I find. thank you for that link, I was having trouble finding viper specific stuff and I know some of the materials are different then say a vette which has plenty of info out there.

Strip all the paint off with a DA and 80 grit to get that failed paint off and start fresh. Re-fiberglass the cracked damage then finish it off with any normal quality topcoat filler. I prime all of my repairs with polyester primer first. Then block that out and prime in urethane primer as a final before prep/paint.
