Weird Issue - Need Advice

On cold starts the car starts fine but after 1 minute there a noticeably small shaking of the car (like an aggressive cam). When I drive it cold (as its warming up) I put it on Neutral as I coast to a stop and the engine almost dies (has died on me before). Also if I step on the gas it does feel like its skipping power maybe misfiring or something.

Once its all warmed up its runs perfect with no stalling issues.

I have new spark plugs, cleaned iac valved, no vacuum leaks.

The issue happens when engine is cold only after that purrs like a kitten.

Recently installed ROE supercharger and car ran great before that. Can it be a tune issue? Maybe not enough fuel when cold or too little? N

Issue

Does it throw a check engine light? I'd check for exhaust leaks.

If not then it is probably the tune.

No engine light. I have a free flow exhaust (no cats/muffler). I don't think there is a leak there since it was not touched during install and no issues before install.

Sounds like its in your tune. Invest a couple of minutes on start up and let it warm before you head out.

Out of curiosity, what do your ECT and IAT temps read before the first start of the morning? They should read within a couple degrees of each other.

What are your trims at idle when cold and warmed up?

Maybe if you didn't tune with the automotive equivalent of a vacuum tube radio, you wouldn't have to do that.

When I had my Roe car it was temperamental when started cold. Had a big cam, 10# pulley. Thanks simply let it warm up for 2 minutes on cold start and then drove away and all was well. I attributed it to the VEC2 and the big cam, do you have a VEC on the car?

No Vec. I am going to check the spark plug wires and make sure they are connected to the write distributer hook ups, maybe during install they were removed I am not sure just checking easy stuff first. Next will be to get new IAC valve and after that new o2 sensors.

The fuel trims look good all around 0 except when you press gas than goes up a bit and back to 0 so I think they are good. Average around 3-4 for short and 2 for longs.

All it proves is that it is actually possible for a Viper to run like shit without the help of a VEC.

If they're older than a couple years replace them. They start deteriorating after 20,000 miles and only cost $100.

Sounds like ignition to me. Try new plugs/wires. Another thing could be fuel filter. Had a similar issue on a BMW and it was a dirty fuel filter.
