If you are dropping the cats, you won't need to worry about venting the sills.

Agree with GTS Dean. No cats should mean that you shouldn't need anything extra done to keep the temps down.

Good read here - Dodge Viper GTS Exhaust Heat HeatShield Products

It's debatable on the effects of the wrap but I thought it was a pretty good article.

For side sill vents, these look nice. - https://www.speedtactics.com/various...qr-cdxnm-h8fpb

These are also debatable on effectiveness and also some concerns around debris being allowed to enter the openings and causing potential challenges.

Dave666 will most likely chime in with his mods which seem to work real well. I'm to chicken *&^% to try it though.

I threw my cats out into the woods (after they melted the plastic door sill on the passenger side) and wrapped my exhausts in a header blanket. Despite all predictions of doom and destruction, everything has been just fine.

Sill temps just barely above 100* after a spirited drive on a hot day.

Only you predict gloom and doom drama queen.

Anywho, here are some actual acts about the matter:

The wrap can retain moisture, which can accelerate corrosion, and can trap organic matter over time that will make the typically non combustible wrap, combustible. It has caught fire before on Gen 2s.

Now to clarify why drama mama's car "has been just fine," the car must be 1) driven, or 2) gotten wet.

Too soon drama mama garage queenie?

If you wrap the exaust use titanim header wrap, i currently own 4 turbo SBF mustangs and all have it (hot side and down pipe) for years and none have rusted thru or cought on fire. All turbo cars i build for guys use it and no report of issues ever with it. I would definitely vent the side seals but without cats the wrap might not be necessary.

Skip the wrap unless you want to trap moisture.

Yeah. I'll let you guys know when the stainless steel or the aluminum corrode through from the trapped moisture.

The previous owner had it on my Corsa exhaust (Stainless) for about 6 or so years and it now has minor surface corrosion. The unwrapped portion looks better and has no corrosion. I have driven the car in the rain a few times...

You have to remember Jack pulls boogers from rich people's noses for a living. He is ignorant to the fact that stainless steel is 70% iron. Iron oxide being rust. Or that aluminum corrodes easily with moisture trapped. The factory side sills are a great example. Yet the boogers blind you from all that...

Also, what traps moisture and organic matter is a fibrous structure. Ever wonder why the engineers that designed the cars wrapped that glass mat in the factory sill insulation in stainless steel to keep the moisture and dirt off of it?

Stupid fucking engineers. Probably have too many boogers on their chins

Right. 6 years. Minor surface corrosion. So when it rusts through in 60 years, I'll spend another $300 to replace it.

And I'm not sure what kind of 'organic material' Dave drives through, but by not hacking up my sills, they do what the engineers meant them to do.... Protect the exhaust from road debris. Ironic that the guy who hacks his sills is lecturing me on subverting the factory engineers.

Im guessing all this debris and contamination and shit that has been mentioned is caused from hacked up side seals that has a direct open window right behind a tire?? Say not so...

The wrap issue was from several years ago when Roe was selling the exhaust wrap blankets that trapped moisture. http://www.roeracing.com/productcart...it-172p203.htm

So header wrap is more or less susceptible to this problem than the blankets? I've never even seen that before honestly.

No need for the little vents. Just cut the fender liner with a dremel and drill out the rivets on the back then knock it out.

If you're catless, remove the heat shield in the side sill and interior temps are much better.

Agree with first few replies. No cat, no need to vent rocker panels.

I drove with cats for about 130,000. Now have 180,000. No problems. No third degree burns.
